Mopa Community Loses one of its illustration sons, Chief Charles Abayomi Abel to Death
The Oju family of the Iyam’Ogbe/Iya Oto Clan, Yeke Compound, Okeguru, Odole Mopa, in Mopamuro Local Government Area of Kogi State has regrettably announced the passing away of Chief Charles Abayomi Abel.
This was contained in a message released on behalf of the family and signed by by Mr. Joseph Aina Abel.
Chief Charles Abel who was born on February 3rd, 1945 gave up the ghost after a brief illness in Ibadan, Oyo State on Saturday, 13th of April, dieing at 79 years of age.
Charles Abayomi Abel got part of his education at Okene Secondary School, Okene; Bristol Polytechnic, London (now University of the West of England); furthered his education in Ealing Technical College & School of Art, London and also at Garnet College, London.
Chief Charles Abayomi Abel contributed meaningfully to the economic development and peaceful coexistence of Mopa community, Nigeria and the world as a professional in the Hospital Industry throughout his lifetime.
He served as General Manager, Metropolitan Hotel, Calabar (January 1981 – September 1985); Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer, Nigeria Hotels Limited (Ikoyi Hotel) (November 1992 – June 1996) and a Chief Consultant in the Nigeria Hospitality Industry from June 2000 until his death.
Chief Abayomi was survived by wives, children and grandchildren.
