NACTAL lauds Niger State Governor efforts in fight against human trafficking
Network Against Child Trafficking, Abuse and Labour a leading network for human rights and anti-trafficking efforts in Niger State, today expressed its profound appreciation for the government’s tireless efforts in combating human trafficking.
In a statement by the Niger State Coordinator of NACTAL, Kalejaiye Olasunkanmi on Friday, the government’s recent initiatives, including the call on State Governors across the country to join hands with the National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons (NAPTIP) to tackle the issues of human trafficking and violence against persons in the Country and the robust sustenance of land for the immediate take-off of the Niger State Command of NAPTIP demonstrate a clear commitment to eradicating this heinous crime.
The statement reads in part “These efforts will translate to desirable outcomes like increased prosecutions, improved victim support services. We are heartened by the government’s dedication to fighting human trafficking as these efforts have sent a strong message that human trafficking will not be tolerated in Niger State.
“NACTAL Niger under the leadership of its coordinator, Kalejaiye Olasunkanmi are so proud to announce its partnership with the government to combat human trafficking. This collaboration will strengthen our collective efforts to prevent trafficking, protect victims, and prosecute perpetrators.
“Niger State NACTAL also made a call to the best performing Governor in Nigeria, Farmer Governor Umar Mohammed Bago to consider appointment of adviser on Migration and trafficking for a seamless relationship between the civil society organization on trafficking and government. Secondly, to also support in setting up of task force on trafficking in the state as stipulated in NAPTIP law.
“NACTAL Nigeria has been working closely with the government to support anti-trafficking initiatives and provide essential services to victims. We look forward to continuing our collaboration to ensure that perpetrators are held accountable and victims receive the support they deserve.
“We urge all stakeholders to join forces in this fight against human trafficking. Together, we can create a society where everyone is safe from exploitation and abuse”.
