.. As University begins Four new medical programmes
The Confluence University of Science and Technology, (CUSTECH) Osara will begin four new programmes in the next academic session.

Prof. Abdulrahman Asipita Salawu disclosed this on Saturday in Osara during a media tour by the Nigeria Guild of Editors, (NGE).
Prof Salawu disclosed that, the new programmes are Anatomy, Physiology, nursing and medical laboratory.
“We are going to run faculty of medicine (MBBS). In preparatory to that, you can’t run MBBS without the science subject in the faculty.
Anatomy, Physiology, Nursing and Medical Laboratory.
“So we have established this four already. Yesterday, we submitted to NUC for resource verification in April this year. So we will start this new program in the next academic session 2024/2025.
The University Don commended the Kogi State Government for the prompt release of funds to run the affair of the School stressing that, the institution is gradually becoming one of the best University in Nigeria.
“The law that establish this university made it compulsory for State Government IGR five percent statutorily. We receive it every month. But we are operating TSA. What ever enters this account enters Government account straight.
“When ever we write, we use to get our money immediately. The University is well funded by the State Government. The total number of Students enrolled is not more than 10,000 but not less than 3000. I don’t have the exact figure now. Why because some students are still registering as we speak especially the new student”he stated.
Prof Salawu added that, efforts is being put in place by the institution management to accommodate more students in the hostel.
According to him, “We have 180 bed space presently. As I speak to you, the report I was given by State consultant last week indicate that there will be ground breaking of 400 bed space for student hostel by next week. The Governor himself will ve coming to do that he has approved it.
“We have private developer. We have gone for MOU. It has already been considered and after then it will be submitted to the State Government for necessary approval and due process.
On security, the Vice Chancellor intimidated his August visitors that, due to the terrain the environment, security agencies including Local hunters where contacted to ensure the safety of students, staff and properties on campus.
He said”Because of the nature of our terrain, we engage our local hunters. Our local hunters are from this place. They know the nooks and crannies of the environment. They have effectively checked the invaders. Routinely, we use to train them in conjunction with the State security. They are hunters and are very conventional. Also we engage some private security from other state. We have MOU with them and they are doing their best to secure the school and it environs. To the glory of God, we have never had any incident recorded and we won’t have by the special grace of God.
In his remarks, the President of NGE Mr Eze Anaba scored the Kogi State Government high in Kogi education.
The veteran journalist maintained that, with what him and his team have seeing so far, Kogi State remains a destination for the acquisition of good knowledge and skills.
Anaba admonished the Government to continue the good work in the State, just as he task force the Citizens to support the present administration for dividend of democracy.
Anaba said “Since the beginning of this tour, we have seen the good work of the Kogi State Government. Education is light. Without a good educational background of our Students, the future is not certain.
“What you are teaching here is what Nigeria needs. So, hopefully, the future, strength and the progress of Nigeria, in terms of technology starts from here. Hopefully, we are optimistic that, you will train, produce your own security here through ICT”.
