Nigeria signs Memoradum of Understanding with Finland for Enhanced Flight Connectivity Between the Two Nations.

In order to enhance flight connectivity between Nigeria and Finland, the two Nations signed a Memoradum of Understanding (MoU) on May 23, 2023 in Helsinki, Finland.

The MoU was a follow-up to the initialed Air Services Agreement (ASA) between Nigeria and Finland at the last International Civil Aviation Negotiation (ICAN) Event which held in Abuja, December 2022.

The MoU provides for the designated airlines from Nigeria and Finland to have code share arrangement with another carrier of choice.

The arrangement will alleviate the problems of connectivity of passengers travelling on the Nigerian-Finnish route.

The Head of Nigerian Delegation to Finland, comprising of officials of the Ministry of Aviation and Aerospace and the Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) , Mr. Hassan Ejibunu, stated that the signing of the MoU was another positive development in air transportation between Nigeria and Finland, made possible by the immediate past Minister of Aviation and Aerospace, Senator Hadi Abubakar Sirika, CFR and ably supported by the Permanent Secretary in the Ministry, Dr. Emmanuel Meribole.

He equally observed that it was a prelude to signing of a formal Bilateral Air Services Agreement (BASA) between the two countries.

While in Finland, the Nigerian Delegation visited the Finnair Cargo Terminal on guided tour to understudy its operation.

Equally, the Delegation also visited the operational Headquarters of Vaisala, a company that is involved in the production of equipment that are used in meteorology for weather forecasting, airport lighting systems and tower control relevant to the operations of some of the Aviation Agencies in Nigeria.
