NIPR Kogi Chapter Elects Governor Ododo’s Spokesman as Interim Chair
Lokoja, Kogi State – The Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (NIPR) Kogi State Chapter has taken a significant step to revitalize its activities in the state with the election of the Special Adviser to the Executive Governor of Kogi State on Media, Ismaila Isah, as its interim chairman.
The decision was taken at a one-day stakeholders’ breakfast meeting held in Lokoja, where members of the institute unanimously agreed to appoint Isah to coordinate the activities of the chapter pending a properly constituted executive committee election.
The meeting, which brought together PR professionals from various sectors, aimed to chart a new course for the state chapter of the institute.
In a communique issued at the end of the meeting, the NIPR Kogi State Chapter emphasized the importance of public relations in governance and public administration, stressing that it is a proactive endeavor that utilizes consistent engagement to ensure mutual understanding among stakeholders in society.
The body also resolved that PR practitioners should be part of major decision-making in organizations to contribute to issues and effectively design messaging to their publics.
The meeting also highlighted the need for accuracy over speed in communicating organizational activities and the importance of strengthening PR education for national development. Papers were presented by members from the academia, government, and private sector during the meeting, which was a first of its kind in the state.
The NIPR Kogi State Chapter is expected to play a crucial role in promoting professional PR practices in the state and contributing to the growth and development of the profession.
