The Oka Festival date cannot be set without input from all stakeholders, according to the Ololu Obajemu of Oweland, His Royal Majesty, Oba Michael Ibinaiye.
He emphasized the importance of collective, rather than unilateral, decisions in the Owe community.
He expressed concerns about individuals attempting to impose their ideas and decisions on the community without following established procedures.
The Monarch stressed that the festival date-setting process has always involved collaboration and consideration of various factors and stakeholders’ inputs.
Disregarding this process not only bypasses the rules but also disregards the voices and concerns of numerous community stakeholders.
He urged those responsible to reconsider their actions, follow due process, and engage in meaningful consultations with the community to determine a date that works for all.
He cautioned that failing to do so may lead to division, disenfranchisement, and chaos.
The Monarch also advised the public to await a communication regarding the Oka Festival date, assuring that it will be inclusive and sanctioned by the Owe deity.
Meanwhile, the Ilemila Royal Family who is the custodian of Oka festival has also debunked the announcement of date for this year Oka festival, urged all stakeholders to wait for the official communication sanctioned by Owe stakeholders.
