NSCDC KWARA STATE COMMAND DEBUNKS FALSE PUBLICATION ATTRIBUTED TO DR. UMAR J.G. MOHAMMED
EMMANUEL KEHINDE, ILORIN
The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Kwara State Command, has been drawn to a misleading online publication circulating on social media, which falsely attributes statements to one “Major General Umar Mohammed”, claiming he served in the Nigerian Army for 35 years and granted an interview to Trust TV where he allegedly criticized military operations.
The Command wishes to set the record straight that Dr. Umar J.G. Mohammed is not a retired Major General and has never served in the Nigerian Army.
He is the State Commandant of the NSCDC, Kwara State Command, and at no time did he grant any interview to Trust TV or any other media organization on the matter referenced.
The Command views this publication as a case of mistaken identity or deliberate misinformation aimed at creating confusion and tarnishing the reputation of a respected public officer.
It is particularly worrisome that the false story was circulated using the photograph of Dr. Umar J.G. Mohammed, thereby misleading unsuspecting members of the public.
The Command condemns this act and urges online publishers, bloggers, and social media users to verify information before publication. The spread of unverified stories not only misinforms the public but also undermines the credibility of responsible journalism.
Members of the public are therefore advised to disregard the false story and refrain from sharing or promoting such misleading content.
The NSCDC, Kwara State Command, remains committed to its core duties of protecting critical national assets and infrastructure, ensuring public safety, and upholding professionalism, integrity, and discipline in service to the nation.
For accurate updates and official information, the public is advised to rely solely on the verified communication channels of the NSCDC, Kwara State Command.
