Obangogo Mountain Resort- The Best Tourists Destination In Kogi State, Nigeria- By Ben Owoleke.

Obangogo Mountain, the natural monument, gracely sits on the virgin land of Owe-Kabba in Kogi’s State, Nigeria.
Trip to Obangogo is made once in a year, which is usually on 27th of December..


This year edition is tagged Obangogo Quest

WONDERS OF THE MOUNTAIN
Obangogo Mountain has three (3) distinct attributes and immeasurable values;
1. The Historical importance of Obangogo as it intertwined with the survival of Owè people.
2. The Spiritual attributes of Obangogo Mountain, and
3. The esthetic and wonderful artifacts, as designed by mother’s nature.

The wonders on the hill include the story of a King, called Elegha, whose coffin turned into a stone. The stone is still there today.
The Ako Kereje, Kereje:
A total number of 130 rock hollows were found on Obangogo hill top. They are circular in shape, located 100m north- east of the defensive wall which was a stone arrange at the entrance of the site. One of the hollows was measured to have a diameter of 25cm. According to the information gathered from oral tradition, these hollows were used as serving plate for food as at time immemorial.


There is also a part of the hill that sounds like talking drums. The sound served as a warning of approaching enemies.
There is a spring water on the hill that never dries all year round. The water served as the main source of water for the people long time ago.
There are five mystical lake on the hill called ‘’Ako’’ and they never run dry despite their stagnant position.

The rocks on the hills come in different shapes and forms. Their interpretation is best defined by the eyes of the beholder.
It is believed that the water on the hill has mystical and curing powers.
It is also believed that any prayer rendered on the hill will manifest.

A group of Kabba indegenes led by Mr. Steve Babaeko, the founder and CEO of X3M Group have begun a deliberate process to elevate Obangogo Hill into reckoning for consideration as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The undiluted culture and natural history recommends this great great tourist attraction.

Media reports also detail the effort of the Curator of Obangogo, Mr Ben Funsho Owoleke . He said the Obangogo committee for each year has been striving to catch the attention of the world by creating awareness for the hill.
