ODO APE KILLINGS: HON. TAJUDEEN YUSUF CONDEMNS INCIDENT; CALLS FOR THE ARREST OF PERPETRATORS; SYMPATHISES WITH VICTIMS FAMILIES AND COMMUNITY
I outrightly condemn the brutal, heinous murder of Mr. Sunday Aiyedero, and one other person by yet-to-be identified assailants in Odo Ape Town, Kabba-Bunu LGA, of Kogi state, which sad incident occurred few days back. The gruesome killings of the two peaceful, and law abiding people; said to be farmers, by some gunmen is most despicable, callous, and wicked. The reports of this dastardly acts evokes pain, anger, and regrets which necessities total condemnation by all and sundry.
It is shocking and saddening that these killers; who are allegedly described as kidnappers and herdsmen with evil minds, destructive tendencies, and satanic intentions will carry out such cruel, barbaric and terrible actions on victims going on their regular, and normal endeavors. The crazy, senseless, and horrific killings are deeply inhuman, rudderless, and vicious.
Sadly, for some time the people of Odo Ape, and other communities within Kabba-Bunu LGA, as well as other communities in neighboring LGAs have being serially harassed, intimidated, and attacked by groups of charlatans, and unknown criminal elements whose true identities remains largely unknown. There are rising incidents of kidnappings, and destruction of farmlands unleashed by these mean-spirited, callously-wicked, blood-seeking, and criminally-infected souls. The Odo Ape incident, and similar others which violates the fundamental human right to life stands condemnable, in striden and strongest terms.
I strongly call on the law enforcement, and other security agencies to conduct thorough, and speedy investigation of this unfortunate incident with the aim of apprehending the perpetrators, and bringing them to justice. If this is done; rightly and timely, it will serve as alarm bells to others, and inspire confidence in residents and indigenes of our communities.
While I sympathise with the families, friends, associates, colleagues and the good people of Odo Ape over the tragic, and irreparable loss of their loved ones, I appeal for calm, law and order. I passionately plead with people not to engage in any unlawful and illegal actions as they await results of investigation by the police, and other security agencies.
