The Executive Chairman of Ijumu Local Government Area who doubles as the ALGON Chairman ,Kogi State, Dr. Isah Taufiq has sent out an appeal to Governor Yahaya Bello to as a matter of urgency and respect to the oldest monarch in Ijumu land to upgrade the Stool of Ologidi of Ogidi Kingdom, Oba Rabiu Olademeji Sule to first class chief.

The council boss who joined the APC Gubernatorial Candidate in Kogi State, Alh. Ahmed Usman Ododo to attend the event, used the occasion to brief the public on his efforts in securing his domain and enjoined them to partner with the Local Government in order to secure lives and properties in the area.

He disclosed this in Ogidi yesterday during the celebration of this year Ogidi Day cultural festival.

According to him, Ogidi community is one of the communities that are making Okun and indeed Kogi state proud in the area of showcasing the cultural and traditional heritage of the area to the world.

He noted that Ogidi being the headquarters of Ijumu Oke district, it will be befitting for the monarch to be upgraded to first class for the stool to be at pal with others who are his contemporaries in the local government and state, stressing that Ogidi community is a strategic town in Okun land that brings in tourists to the state on annual basis.

Collaborating his appeals, a chairmanship hopeful, Dr Toyin Karma said Ogidi being one of the front line communities that is promoting Tourism in the state, their monarch should be given the deserving honor of being a first class king in the state.

He also urged the state to look into the infrastructural deficit in the area especially the road linking the community to Kabba, Aiyere and Aduge which was hitherto a federal road those days, as that will fast track the development of the area, while another chairmanship hopeful, Hon. Mayowa Idris congratulated the community for the successful hosting of the 2023 Ogidi Day celebration.

He said if given opportunity to serve, he will consolidate on the achievements of the current administration led by Hon Isah Taufiq in the local government.
