Okun Monarch to Honour Tinubu’s Daughter in Kabba
The Okun Area Traditional Council in Kogi State, North Central Nigeria is set to confer a traditional title of Aare Oja of Okunland on the Iyaloja General of Nigeria, Chief (Mrs.) Afolasade Mujidat Tinubu-Ojo.
This was disclosed in a statement issued from the palace of the Obaro of Kabba and Chairman, Okun Area Traditional Council, Oba (Dr) Solomon Dele Owoniyi and made available to newsmen in Kabba.
According to the statement the event is expected to host the daughter of the President, Federal Republic of Nigeria and other dignitaries from all walks of life to grace and witness the conferment of the Chieftaincy title in the Royal Court of Kabba on Sunday, August 27, 2023 at 2pm.
However other Traditional rulers from all the local government areas in Okunland will be joined at the ceremony by leaders of Okun people, market leaders across the area and representatives of civil society organizations.
The statement said the title would be conferred on Chief (Mrs.) Tinubu-Ojo in recognition of her achievements as the nation’s foremost market leader as well as in appreciation of her efforts at improving the lot of women in Lagos and Nigeria at large.
It explained that the conferment is expected to cement the existing relations among the Okun people of Kogi State and their counterparts in Lagos State.
Chief (Mrs.) Tinubu-Ojo, the daughter of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu succeeded her late grandmother, Alhaja Abibatu Mogaji as Iyaloja-General when the latter died in 2013.
