Olujumu of ijumu Receives Okun United for Ododo/Joel 2023 Project Delegation in his Palace.
In continuation of the tour of Okunland ahead of the November 11 Governorship Election in Kogi State, the Okun United for Ododo/Joel Support Group has taken its campaign to the Olujumu of Ijumu land, HRM, Oba (Dr.) Williams Ayeni with the intention to woo prospective voters in the kingdom in favour of APC Governorship candidate.
Speaking at the palace, the State Security Adviser and double as the Coordinator of the group, Commander Jerry Omodara (rtd) said it has become important for the group to pay him a courtesy visit being one of the respected monarchs in the area and informed him of their main objective which is mobilizing the electorates in Okunland in support of the APC Governorship candidate in the forthcoming Governorship election in the state.
Omodara emphasized on the need for Okun people to unite for Ododo project as that will enable the area to face future challenges.
Also speaking in the palace, the Director General of the group, Barrister Alfred Bello said it is more strategic as a minority to align with the Central Senatorial District who are in government to achieve both short and long term objectives.
He urged the monarch to use his office to rally other traditional rulers in Ijumu and Okunland to support the idea of giving overwhelming votes to the APC since the party already booked a place in Abuja, pointing out that it is good for the Okun people to give Ododo/Joel the necessary backing of having an APC government at the state level.
In his reaction to their submission, the Olujumu of Ijumu acknowledged the fact that there is need for unity in Okunland and described the multiple governorship candidates in the area as a major setback for the aspirations of Okun nation to be Governor of Kogi State at this time hence there is no formidable front to hold onto.
He noted that the most prepared tribe for this race by all indications are the Ebira people from the central senatorial district who put forward only one candidate for the governorship race.
While giving the vote of thanks, former member of the Kogi State House of Assembly, Hon. Eric Fiki eulogized the monarch for granting the group audience despite the short notice.
He prayed that God will continue to grant him more wisdom, knowledge, understanding and good health to continue to pilot the affairs of the Ijumu people to greater heights.
He urged him to join hands with other monarchs for the Okun nation to have a common voice for the overall development of the area, and assured him that the group will continue to consult him on various issues that will give victory to Ododo/Joel Project come November 11.
