Onu Igala Rivers State, Alhaji Idris Ekele, Commiserates with Ogar Family Over Matriarch’s Demise

The Head of the Igala Community in Rivers State, popularly known as the Onu Igala Rivers State, Alhaji Idris Ekele, has joined numerous mourners and well-wishers in commiserating with the Ogar family of Ibaji Local Government Area of Kogi State over the passing of the family matriarch, Mrs. Ajuma Theresa Ogar.
Speaking with journalists shortly after the funeral service held at St. Francis Catholic Church, Idah, Kogi State, on Thursday, July 30, 2026, for the repose of her soul, Alhaji Ekele expressed his heartfelt condolences to the entire Ogar family.

The traditional leader and head of the Igala socio-cultural community in Rivers State urged the family to take solace in the fact that the late Mrs. Ogar lived a life worthy of emulation and was widely loved and respected by members of the community.
He noted that the large turnout of mourners from different religious backgrounds at the funeral was a clear testament to the goodwill, acceptance, and positive impact she had on the lives of many.
Alhaji Ekele explained that his presence at the burial was also in solidarity with a member of the Igala Cultural Development Association, Port Harcourt, Engr. Musa Arogba, who is related to the deceased’s family.
He commended the people of the community for their remarkable display of religious tolerance, noting that mourners and attendees at the funeral came from various faiths. According to him, this reflects the peaceful coexistence that has continued to define the Igala Kingdom.
The traditional ruler called on the people to sustain the spirit of religious tolerance and peaceful coexistence, stressing that unity remains essential for the continued growth and development of the Igala Kingdom.
In his remarks, Engr. Musa Arogba expressed profound appreciation to Alhaji Idris Ekele for his unwavering support, love, and concern for the Igala people in Rivers State, especially during moments of grief and difficulty. He described the Onu Igala’s leadership as selfless, compassionate, and sacrificial.
Paying tribute to the late Mrs. Ajuma Theresa Ogar, Engr. Arogba described her as a mother to all—caring, loving, and compassionate. He noted that her passing is a great loss not only to the Ogar family but also to the wider community, adding that her legacy of kindness and service will continue to be remembered.
