Open Letter to His Excellency, President Ahmed Bola Tinubu, GCFR on APC Leadership under Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje
The Stability of APC Leadership and the Critical Role of Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje
Your Excellency,
I extend my warmest greetings to you and wish you continued success in your leadership of our great nation. As a committed member and the Director General of the Progressive Amalgamation of Northern Nigeria (PANN), I feel compelled to address an issue of grave importance to the future of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and the stability of our political structure, particularly in the Northern region.
Recent discussions surrounding the removal of the National Chairman of the APC, Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, have grown increasingly contentious. There are calls for his resignation, notably from figures such as Muhammad Etsu, a former aspirant for the APC chairmanship, and other influential voices in the North-Central region. These demands, however, are not just misguided but represent a dangerous miscalculation that could have catastrophic consequences for the APC nationwide.
Dr. Ganduje’s leadership has been instrumental in maintaining the unity and strength of the APC, particularly in the Northern region. His deep understanding of the political landscape and his ability to navigate the complex challenges facing our party have been key to our success. The idea of removing him at this juncture is not just ridiculous; it is an act of wishful thinking that undermines the very foundation of the APC.
The APC’s structure, meticulously built over the years, is delicate. It relies on the leadership of experienced and strategic minds like Dr. Ganduje. Any attempt to destabilize this structure by changing leadership at such a critical time would be a monumental error. The repercussions of such a move would not be limited to internal party discord but would extend to the broader political arena, potentially leading to the downfall of the APC, not just in the Northern region, but across Nigeria.
Those advocating for Ganduje’s removal fail to grasp the intricate balance required to manage a party as diverse and complex as the APC. Their controversial stance is not born out of a genuine concern for the party’s future but rather out of personal and regional interests that do not align with the collective goals of the APC. The fact remains that without Ganduje’s leadership, the APC’s influence in the North would be severely diminished, and the party’s prospects in future elections would be in serious jeopardy.
Your Excellency, I urge you to stand firm against these calls for change. The Northern region remains a critical stronghold for the APC, and any disruption in its leadership could lead to a collapse of the support structure we have worked so hard to build. We cannot afford to lose the confidence of our supporters in the North, and the removal of Dr. Ganduje would almost certainly lead to such.
In conclusion, I assure you that the sentiments within the Northern region are clear: the APC under Ganduje’s leadership remains strong and unified. Any attempt to undermine his position would spell the end of the APC’s dominance in the North and, by extension, its viability as a national party. I trust in your wisdom to recognize the gravity of this situation and to take the necessary steps to ensure that our party remains strong and united under capable leadership.
Thank you for your attention to this critical matter. May God continue to guide you as you lead our nation.
Yours sincerely,
Hon. Bala Salihu Dawakin kudu
Director General
Progressive Amalgamation of Northern Nigeria (PANN)
