Open Letter to Mr. President Ahmed Bola Tinubu By Honorable Bala Salihu Dawakin Kudu DG PANNTS (Progressive Amalgamation of Northern Nigeria for Tinubu Shattima)
31/1/2024
Dear Mr. President Tinubu,
We hope this letter finds you in good health and high spirits. We write to you on behalf of Progressive Amalgamation of Northern Nigeria for Tinubu/Shattima (PANNTS), an organization deeply committed to the progress and development of Northern Nigeria. Our members are deeply concerned about the increasing insecurity plaguing our region, and we feel compelled to address this critical issue with you.
Firstly, we acknowledge your vast experience and unwavering commitment to public service. Your relentless efforts in transforming Lagos State during your tenure as Governor remain exemplary. We recognize your vision for a united and prosperous Nigeria, where every citizen can live in peace and harmony.
However, we cannot disregard the current challenges faced by our brothers and sisters in the Northern region, particularly the alarming rise in insecurity. This issue demands immediate attention to prevent its escalation and ensure the safety and wellbeing of our people.
Mr. President, we kindly urge you to take tough decisions aimed at ending the prevailing state of insecurity in Northern Nigeria. We understand that tackling such a complex issue requires both short-term and long-term strategies involving multiple stakeholders, including the federal government, state governments, security agencies, community leaders, and the citizens themselves.
While we acknowledge that security remains a joint responsibility, we firmly believe that your leadership and influence can be instrumental in making a significant impact. We implore you to use your position to rally both political and non-political actors, fostering unity and collaboration in the fight against insecurity.
We suggest that you prioritize the following areas of concern:
1. Strengthening Security Agencies: Allocate adequate resources and support to our security agencies, including personnel training, equipping them with modern tools and technology, and enhancing intelligence operations to enable swift response against criminal elements.
2. Community Engagement: Foster synergy and cooperation between security agencies and local communities. Encourage intelligence sharing mechanisms, community-policing initiatives, and partnerships that will restore trust and ensure the involvement of citizens in safeguarding their neighborhoods.
3. Socio-economic Development: Address the root causes of insecurity by promoting socio-economic development in the region. Enhance investment in infrastructure, education, healthcare, and agriculture to create job opportunities, alleviate poverty, and discourage youth involvement in criminal activities.
4. Interagency Collaboration: Facilitate seamless collaboration among security agencies, both within and across states. This will enhance intelligence sharing, joint operations, and foster a more coordinated response to tackle insecurity in a unified manner.
Mr. President, we understand the weight of the responsibility on your shoulders, and we acknowledge the complexity of the challenges faced. However, we believe that with your leadership and determination, along with the collective efforts of stakeholders, it is possible to restore peace, stability, and progress in Northern Nigeria.
Lastly, we are deeply committed to working with you to make a positive impact in the fight against insecurity. Our organization, PANNTS, will actively support and participate in any initiatives aimed at restoring peace and security to our beloved region.
Once again, we appeal to your sense of duty, leadership, and commitment to the welfare of Nigerians. Let us join hands together to ensure that the loss of Northern votes in 2027 becomes nothing more than a distant memory, as we strive towards building a secure and prosperous Nigeria for all.
Sincerely,
Hon. Bala Salihu Dawakin kudu
Director General PANNTS
Progressive Amalgamation of Northern Nigeria for Tinubu/ Shattima.
