Open letter to Mr. President Ahmed Bola Tinubu, President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria
Presidential Villa
Abuja, Nigeria
Sai No to France Army in Northern Nigeria.
Your Excellency,
I hope this letter finds you in good health and high spirits. I write to you today as the Director General of the Progressive Amalgamation of Northern Nigeria for Tinubu/ Shattima (PANNTS) to express our deep concern regarding recent rumors and reports surrounding the presence of French military forces in Northern Nigeria.
The news of a possible deployment of French troops to our region has ignited strong reactions among the people. We, the people of the North, firmly believe that the issue of national security should be handled by our own armed forces for the safeguarding of our territorial integrity. The idea of foreign troops patrolling our streets and interfering in our internal affairs raises serious questions and concerns among our populace.
While we acknowledge the importance of international cooperation and assistance in fighting terrorism and insurgency, we firmly believe that such collaborations should be well-regulated and monitored to preserve and protect our national sovereignty. We encourage the government to explore avenues of collaboration with neighboring and friendly countries and international partners through lawful and transparent channels.
The Northern region of Nigeria has borne the brunt of insurgency and terrorism for far too long. Our people continue to suffer unimaginable hardships, including loss of lives, displacement, and economic stagnation. We understand the need to adopt fresh approaches to tackle these challenges decisively, but we must ensure that our actions align with the broader interests and aspirations of our people.
Furthermore, we urge you, Mr. President, to consider the historical context and sensitivities surrounding foreign presence in our region. The Northern Nigerian people are proud of their heritage and possess strong cultural ties that may not align with the interests and agendas of foreign powers. Therefore, it is imperative that we prioritize our own institutions and the development of our local security apparatus.
We, the Progressive Amalgamation of Northern Nigeria for Tinubu/ Shattima (PANNTS), humbly request that your administration carefully considers the concerns raised in this letter. We suggest conducting a thorough and inclusive dialogue with relevant stakeholders to accurately gauge public sentiment on this matter. We believe that your leadership can effectively address the security challenges we face while upholding the principles of sovereignty and national integrity.
In conclusion, we reiterate our firm stance against the deployment of foreign troops, specifically those from France, in Northern Nigeria. We trust in your wisdom and strong commitment to the unity and progress of our great nation, and we are eager to contribute positively to the growth and development of our beloved country.
May the Almighty guide you in making decisions that serve the best interests of the Nigerian people.
Yours faithfully,
Hon. Bala Salihu Dawakin Kudu
Director General, PANNTS
