PAAU VC RECEIVES WOMEN GROUP, IYO FAMILY, AS GROUPS PLEDGE SUPPORT

PAAU VC RECEIVES WOMEN GROUP, IYO FAMILY, AS GROUPS PLEDGE SUPPORT

The Vice-Chancellor of Prince Abubakar Audu University, Anyigba, Professor Salisu Ogbo Usman, has received the PAAU Women Group and the Iyo Family Group, Angwa Ogebe, Ankpa Local Government Area, who paid a separate courtesy visit to his office and pledged their continued support for his administration.

The visits took place on Tuesday, 1st September, 2026, at the Vice-Chancellor’s Office, Senate Building.

The PAAU Women Group delegation was led by its Leader, Hajia Yusuf Suleiman Rabi, while the Iyo Family Group delegation was led by its Chairman, Usman Iliyasu Bala.

Speaking during the visit, Hajia Yusuf described Professor Usman as a worthy ambassador of his community whose appointment as Vice-Chancellor had brought honour and pride to those who identify with him.

She said the group was formed out of collective admiration and support for the Vice-Chancellor, and commended his inclusive leadership style, dedication to staff welfare and the various initiatives introduced since his assumption of office.

The group pledged its full support for the Vice-Chancellor, the Executive Governor of Kogi State, His Excellency Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo, and the All Progressives Congress (APC), promising to mobilise women in support of the administration’s programmes and policies.

In a similar vein, the Chairman of the Iyo Family Group, Usman Iliyasu Bala, expressed appreciation to the former Governor of Kogi State, His Excellency Alhaji Yahaya Adoza Bello, and the current Governor, His Excellency Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo, for the trust and confidence reposed in the Vice-Chancellor.

He described Professor Usman as a son of the soil whose appointment as the sixth substantive Vice-Chancellor of the University had brought honour and pride to the Iyo family and the Angwa Ogebe community.

Members of the group commended the Vice-Chancellor’s dedication, resilience and commitment to excellence, noting that his achievements in academic administration had made him a worthy ambassador of the community.

They prayed for continued wisdom, strength and divine guidance for Professor Usman and assured him of their unflinching support and solidarity.

In his response, the Vice-Chancellor expressed profound appreciation to both groups for their visits and support, describing the gestures as a demonstration of solidarity and confidence in his administration.

Prof. Usman thanked Almighty God for his elevation, reflecting on his journey from joining the University in 2009 to becoming its Vice-Chancellor in 2026, which he described as a testament to divine grace, dedication and perseverance.

He also expressed appreciation to the former Governor of Kogi State, His Excellency Alhaji Yahaya Adoza Bello, CON, and the current Governor, His Excellency, Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo for the trust and confidence reposed in him, as well as the contributions of past Vice-Chancellors to the growth and development of the University.

The Vice-Chancellor assured the PAAU Women Group of his continued support and reaffirmed his commitment to inclusive governance and the welfare of staff and students.

He also urged members of the Iyo family to remain united and protect their community against forces seeking to cause division, stressing that unity remains essential for development.

Prof. Usman further called on the Iyo family to support the current administration because of its development efforts in Angwa Ogebe, urging them to place the common good and development above political differences.

He stressed the importance of dedication and intentionality in achieving one’s goals, noting that his own commitment to duty contributed to his rise from Rector of the Kogi State Polytechnic to Vice-Chancellor of Prince Abubakar Audu University.
