PBAT–DSSK Project 2027 Rejects Claims on Kogi West APC Primary, Backs Karimi’s Candidacy
The PBAT–DSSK PROJECT 2027 has dismissed a publication questioning the conduct of the All Progressives Congress, APC, senatorial primary in Kogi West, insisting the exercise was transparent, properly monitored, and produced Senator Sunday Steve Karimi as the party’s candidate.
In a rejoinder issued on Thursday, the group said the primary was “conducted under the supervision of the appropriate party organs and monitored by the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, in accordance with the Electoral Act and the party’s guidelines.”
“We commend INEC for carrying out its constitutional responsibilities professionally throughout the exercise,” the statement said.
The PBAT–DSSK PROJECT 2027 was reacting to an article titled “The Kogi West APC Senatorial Primary: A Test of Internal Democracy and the Rule of Law.” The group described several claims in the publication as “misleading assertions capable of creating unnecessary tension among party members and the general public.”
“Contrary to the narrative being circulated, there is substantial documentary and video evidence from all wards across Kogi West Senatorial District covering the conduct of the primary election,” the group stated. “These records speak for themselves and reflect the transparent process that produced the party’s candidate. Political propaganda cannot erase verifiable facts.”
On the legal dimension, the group noted that “since aspects of the matter are reportedly before a competent court, responsible party members should refrain from attempting to influence public opinion through speculative publications.”
“The judiciary remains the proper institution for the determination of any legal dispute, and all parties should allow the court to discharge its constitutional responsibility without undue pressure,” it added.
The group also defended Senator Karimi’s record, saying he “has earned the confidence of the people through visible performance, accessible representation, quality constituency projects, educational support programmes, youth and women empowerment initiatives, and purposeful leadership across Kogi West.”
“The overwhelming support Senator Karimi enjoys across Kogi West is not built on propaganda but on measurable achievements and a proven track record,” the statement said.
PBAT–DSSK PROJECT 2027 said its focus remains on the 2027 general elections.
“We wish to state unequivocally that our focus remains unwavering: the successful re-election of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, and Distinguished Senator Sunday Steve Karimi in 2027,” the group said.
It urged APC members to remain united ahead of the polls.
“We therefore urge all APC members, supporters, and stakeholders to remain united, peaceful, and focused on strengthening our great party rather than promoting divisive narratives capable of undermining our collective interest.”
The group signed off with its slogan: _Continuity. Progress. Greater Development._
INEC has earlier acknowledged Senator Karimi as the duly recognized APC flag bearer for Kogi West ahead of the 2027 senatorial election.
