PDP Convention: “Count me out of illegality,” says Senator Yakubu Lado
Abuja, Nigeria – Senator Yakubu Lado Danmarke, a chairman aspirant in the ongoing Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) national convention, has dissociated himself from the exercise, describing it as an “illegality”.
The convention, held at the Adamasingba Stadium in Ibadan, Oyo State capital, was marked by controversy, with several aspirants and delegates raising objections over the conduct of the event.
In a statement, Senator Lado, who was one of the aspirants for the party’s national chairman position, said he would not be part of what he described as an “illegality”.

“I wish to state categorically that I do not recognize the outcome of the convention,” Senator Lado said. “I was not part of the process, and I will not be party to any illegality.”
The senator’s statement has added fuel to the fire, as the PDP is already grappling with internal conflicts and divisions.
The convention has been marred by allegations of imposition, vote buying, and other irregularities, with some delegates and aspirants threatening to take legal action.
The PDP leadership has yet to comment on Senator Lado’s statement, but the development is likely to further complicate the party’s efforts to resolve its internal crises.
However, with Senator Lado’s declining his participation in the execise, it is unclear what the future holds for the PDP and its leadership.
