PDP in disarray as one of its Chieftains, Otunba Adeniyi Olayemi meets Governor Bello, pledges loyalty to APC
This may not be the best of times for the major opposition party, the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in Kogi state as yet another chieftain of the party, a senatorial aspirant in the just concluded general elections, Otunba Adeniyi Olayemi, aka Somi Edumore has abandoned the party for the ruling All Progressive Congress ahead of the Governorship Election in the state.
Olayemi aka Somi Edumore who said it has become necessary to support the ruling party in the state considering the giant strides of the current administration led by Governor Yahaya Bello in executing legacy projects that will stand the test of time.
He commended the Governor for his initiative to establish a state owned University in Okunland which has been a long-age desires of the people of the area, pointing out that the project will have positive impacts on the livelihood of the people when completed, stressing that he decided to return to the APC since the PDP have refused to purge itself of its old ways of not considering the younger generations in governance.
He said the Somi Edumore campaign organization is ready to collapse all it’s structures in Kogi West Senatorial District into the APC haven being part of the success story of the 2015 Audu/Faleke project before the unimaginable thing happened.
He promised to stand firm in his determination to join forces with Governor Yahaya Bello and APC Governorship Candidate, Alhaji Ododo Ahmed Usman for the party to win the November 11 Governorship Election in Kogi State.
Assuring him of inclusivity, the highly elated Governor Yahaya Bello commended his bold step of reuniting with the APC at this critical time as this when there is need for all and sundry to work for the overall success of the party in the state, stressing that the emergence of Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu as the President Elect gives renewed hope for the people to continue to believe in the party hence Kogites will not be deceived to jump out of ruling party for the opposition.
He noted that November 11 Governorship Election in the state provides the opportunity for anyone who wants to join to come as the relationship would be more or less a mutual partnership that will be more beneficial to individuals and communities that signed up to it, urging him to genuinely work with the existing structures for the overall success of the party.
Hon. Ayo Olukayode aka Remix was also part of the PDP stakeholders that met with Governor Yahaya Bello in govt house, Lokoja.
Present at the meeting is the Speaker of the Kogi State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. (Prince) Matthew Kolawole who led them to the governor.
