As the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) prepares for the 2027 general election, party leaders have expressed confidence that despite facing internal crises, the party will rise again and secure victory. The assertion came from Hon. Ali Aminu Abubakar Dawaki, a former Kano State House of Assembly candidate for Dawakin Kudu Local Government, during a party stakeholders’ sensitization event held recently at the Nigeria Institute of Transport in Dawakin Kudu.
Speaking at the event, Hon. Dawaki acknowledged that the PDP has been grappling with internal conflicts, which have affected the party from the grassroots to the national level. However, he emphasized that these challenges will not deter the party’s ambitions. “We are here to inform our people that these internal crises will not discourage us from our goals. Instead, we are here to motivate and encourage our members to remain courageous and steadfast,” he said.
Hon. Dawaki assured the gathered party members that despite the ongoing internal struggles, the PDP’s ability to perform and win the upcoming election remains intact. “When a party is facing internal crises, it shows that it is a big political force. No major party is without its share of challenges. Our party will resolve these issues, and we will emerge victorious in the next election,” he affirmed.
The former candidate also urged party members to remain calm and united. He called on both current and former party members to put aside differences and come together to resolve the party’s issues. “I used this event to urge all party members and stakeholders, whether they are still with us or have left, to return and join hands with us. We must unite and solve the problems facing our party, so that we can move forward,” Hon. Dawaki added.
Malam Uba Idris, the PDP local government secretary, also spoke at the event, stating that the purpose of the gathering was to keep party supporters informed about the current state of the party, particularly the internal challenges it is facing. He acknowledged the difficulties but reassured the attendees that the PDP is working to overcome them.
Malam Idris also took the opportunity to criticize the current political leadership in the country, urging citizens to recognize the hardship many are facing. “People are suffering under the current political ruling parties. The country is in a state of hardship, and it is time for change. I call on all citizens to wake up and support the PDP in replacing the current government,” he said.
The event ended on a hopeful note, with party leaders emphasizing the importance of unity and perseverance. Despite the challenges, the PDP remains determined to return to power in 2027, confident that the party’s internal struggles will be resolved in due time, and that the people will choose a better future under their leadership.
