Petroleum Training lnstitute Matriculates 1718 Students
— Dr Adimula Promises A Better Post Jubilee PTI After 50 Years Anniversary

The Petroleum Training lnstitute (PTl ) Effurun Delta State , on Friday February 17th 2023 ,at the Conference Centre of the lnstitute ,Matriculated a total number of one thousand ,seven hundred and eighteen students for the 2022/ 2023 Academic Session to study different discipline as approved by the lnstitute for full time and School of lndusttrial Continuing Education Programme.
Dr Henry Adimula the Principal/ Chief Executive Officer of the the lnstitute in his opening speech, on behalf of the Governing Board, warmly welcomed all dignitaries to the 2022/2023 Academic Session Matriculation Ceremony Which was well attended by relevant stakeholders across board.
The PTI Chief Executive stated during his opening speech
that the Matriculation Ceremony is an instrument which officially ushers the new students into the unique
and prestigious Institute of learning
mandated to produce middle level Manpower Power for the Oil and Gas industry.
Worthy of note, the Academic Don ,
congratulated the Matriculating students, the parents , guardians and their sponsors for the role they have been playing in nurturing their wards for the pursuit of their academic careers .
Dr Adimula posited : ” While we in the Petroleum Training Institute strive to mould the students academically , we seek your commitment and guaranty that you will continue to support them morally and financially throughout their studentship in the Institute seamlessly.
The PTI boss pointed out that the 2022/2023 academic session marks the beginning of the post – Jubilee era of the Institute which celebrated fifty ( 50 ) years of impactful existence in producing viable manpower for the oil and gas industry to the constellation of all relevant stakeholders as it has been applauded by the Federal Ministry of Petroleum Resources repeatedly
in different fora.
He added saying : ” Let me state
with emphasis that ,this particular batch of Matriculating students are fortunate because they are the first Matriculants in this post – jubilee era. I therefore, implore all of you to rise up to the renewed pursuit of excellence as we seek long lasting solutions to the challenges of the petroleum industry. We must look for new ways of exploiting Fossil Fuel with the aid of local and indigenous technology and this task starts with you .”
Adimula expressed optimism saying:
” My prayer is that at the end of the next two academic sessions ,you will not only graduate with your certificates but
you will also receive awards and laurels
and a developed capacity to contribute to the betterment of our society.”
He explained that the Vision of PTI is to become the leading oil and gas technological Insitute in Africa , while the Mission is to provide competent technological human resources through quality training , research and consultancy services for the oil and gas and allied industry , a mandate to which the Petroleum Training lnstitute has been committed for the past fifty years.
He reminded the Matriculating students that they have at their disposal in PTI , well equipped laboratories, training equipment and facilities that are the best in sub – Sahara Africa , adding that the process of repositioning the Institute to better actualize its mandate is at an advance stage, a development which will benefit the Matriculants when fully implemented , he noted.
The PTI boss who reaffirmed the commitment of the lnstitute to Excellence Service Delivery said:”;.Our
focus for PTI in the post – Jubilee era, is to integrate our hands – on training and development with more emphasis on creativity and innovation . On that premise ,all staff and students of the Petroleum Training Institute , Effurun should be ready for this new shift in our training model.”
Dr Adimula hinted in his speech that Students ‘ projects and staff research groups will be tailored towards solving particular problems in the Oil and Gas industry and in our immediate environment .
Speaking further ,he quoted Edison Arantes do Nascimento saying:
” Success is no accident but hard work , perseverance , learning ,study ,sacrifice and most of all , love of what you are doing or learning to do.”
He added with emphasis: ” Success in PTI will not come to you by buying your way through , as this is completely against our culture and practice in the Institute . You need to hit the ground running immediately by giving diligent and conscientious attention to your studies , because your attendance in clases must be above 75 % to qualify you for exams to enable you achieve academic success in PTI.”
He further advised the Matriculating students
saying : ” Ensure you acquaint yourselves with the ‘lnstitute
Academic Standards Rules and Regulations in order not to fall short of the Institute’s requirements without which you will not graduate successfully.
He charged the Matriculants to also take the period of their studentship as seedtime of hard work which they will reap as a harvest of success at the end .
He stressed a note of warning: “At this juncture , let me also make it clear to our Matriculants that PTl is a Centre of Excellence in the petroleum industry in Nigeria and We provide leadership , best practices , research , support and training for the petroleum industry . For this purpose , we have zero tolerance for Examination misconduct , all forms of physical abuse , Bullying, Cultism , Use of drugs , narcotics and drug peddling, Certificate forgery ,Exposure of body parts and indecent dressing , Stealing , Misuse of social media etc.
Mr Amos Oghenerume of the Petroleum Engineering Department who spoke to Daily Independent Newspaper Correspondent expressed joy and confidence that they are ready and equal to the academic task ahead having met the entry requirements by passing the various hurdles placed
before them in the process of their admission.
