Plateau: Local Governments Election. PLASIEC Staff held hostage,for over 24 Hours,in Lantang South LGA.

The Ad-hoc staff of the Plateau State Independent Electoral Commission (PLASIEC) were abducted for more than 24 hours in Langtang South Local Government of Plateau state,this was announced by the Chairman of the Commission,Mr. Plangji Chishak Daniel at the Commission’s Headquarters in Jos.

Though he didn’t mention the reason for their abduction.

Chishak said the results of those polling units was not accepted and there will be a rerun in due course.

He further announced that there will also be a rerun in one ward of Bassa local Government Area, he said the reason for the rerun is that, the people refused to vote when the materials arrived the polling unit.

According to him,their refusal to cast their votes will not affect the announcement of the Chairmanship results.

In Quan’Pan local Government Area,there will also be a rerun and the Chairman did not explain the reason for the rerun.

The exercise was not concluded for the Journalists to ask questions in some areas to seek for further clarifications as the mode of the announcement of the result differ from that of INEC,after the announcement of 15 Local Government Areas with Pankshin and Langtang North were yet to arrived,only Electronic Media were invited to a different office for certifactes presentations to the Chairmen elect.

There was a sudden announcement from the Director of Press to the Governor,Dr. Gyang Bere that the Governor is already on his way to Langfield to swear in the 15 Chairmen elect as a announce by PLASIEC.

The Process then ended abruptly, at the PLASIEC Headquarters both the Chairmen Elect,their supporters,security Agents,observants hurriedly left the commission for the Swearing in without announcing the results of the two local Government Areas.

With the announcement so far,PDP cleared all the Chairmanship seats.

For the Councillorship positions. APC won three in Jos East,two in Kanke and Quan’Pan,one in Riyom while NNPA won in Ali Kazaure Ward of Jos North Local Government Area.

The Election went peacefully in all the local Governments with the challenges of accreditation,the software introduced by Commission failed in which manual accreditation were used.

And shortage of the Electoral materials in most of the local Government Areas such as Jos East,Bassa among others.

The commission later extended the voting period that was initially announced to end by 2Pm, but due to the late arrival of materials in some areas,failure of accreditation app,rainfall in some parts of Jos delayed the process and it n order not to disfranchised the eligible voters who turn out en-mass to cast their votes.

The 15 newly elected Chairmen were sworn in by the Governor around 8Pm with the Results of Pankshin and Langtang North still being awaited.
