POLICE COMMISSION TWO NEW DIVISIONS IN YAGBA EAST LGA TO STRENGTHEN GRASSROOTS SECURITY
The Nigeria Police Force has commissioned two new Police Divisions in Poyan and Ejuku communities of Yagba East Local Government Area, Kogi State, as part of sustained efforts to strengthen security presence and enhance grassroots policing. The official commissioning ceremony was performed on behalf of the Executive Governor of Kogi State by the Chairman of Yagba East Local Government Area, under the administration of the Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun PhD, NPM, and in the presence of the Commissioner of Police, Kogi State Command, CP Naziru Bello Kankarofi psc mni.
The establishment of the Poyan and Ejuku Divisions reflects the Inspector-General of Police’s commitment to expanding operational coverage, improving rapid response capability, and bringing policing closer to rural communities. The initiative is designed to enhance community-based policing and ensure improved protection of lives and property across the area.
Traditional rulers, community leaders, and residents of Poyan and Ejuku expressed deep appreciation and joy over the development. They commended the Inspector-General of Police and the Commissioner of Police for facilitating the establishment of the divisions, describing the move as timely and instrumental in addressing longstanding security concerns within the communities.
In his remarks, CP Naziru Bello Kankarofi psc mni assured that the Command would ensure adequate deployment of personnel and logistics to guarantee the effective functioning of the new divisions. He emphasized the importance of sustained collaboration, intelligence sharing, and public support in consolidating the gains of the initiative.
The Commissioner of Police reiterates his unwavering commitment to professional, intelligence-driven, and community-oriented policing in line with the vision of the Inspector-General of Police. He calls on residents of Yagba East and Kogi State at large to continue partnering with the Police by providing credible and timely information, reaffirming that security remains a shared responsibility.
