President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has commended the Nigerian Army for its dedication and professionalism in providing security for the ongoing construction of the Illela–Sokoto–Badagry Super Highway Project. The President’s appreciation was conveyed by the Honourable Minister of Defence, His Excellency Mohammed Badaru Abubakar, CON, mni, during a one-day operational visit to Kebbi State on Thursday, 8th May 2025.

The Minister addressed troops at the Forward Operations Base Laager, who are tasked with protecting the road construction site in the region. He lauded their efforts in safeguarding both personnel and equipment, describing their role as vital to the success of the project.

The road, a flagship initiative under President Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, is expected to significantly boost economic activities and ease transportation across Nigeria. The Minister highlighted the strategic importance of the highway, especially for travelers commuting between Sokoto and Lagos, and noted its potential to create jobs and stimulate economic growth.

“You know how important this road is, and you know how critical this mission is,” the Minister told the troops. “That is why the President asked me to come here—to see you and to personally appreciate the great work you are doing.”

The visit underscores the federal government’s commitment to supporting the military and ensuring the successful completion of critical national infrastructure projects.
