Prince Olatunji Olusoji: Kogi West Can Produce Governor Through Strategic Alliances
By Our Correspondent
The Asiwaju of Ayere Kingdom, Prince Olatunji Olusoji, has called on the people of Kogi West Senatorial District to adopt a well-thought-out political strategy and build strategic alliances with Kogi East and Kogi Central to achieve their long-standing aspiration of producing the next governor of Kogi State.
Olusoji made the call during the 2026 edition of the 31st Atuwusi Ayere Cultural and New Yam Festival, held in Ayere, Ijumu Local Government Area of Kogi State. He described the annual celebration as an important occasion for cultural preservation, community unity and discussions on the political and developmental future of the people.
The renowned entrepreneur and philanthropist acknowledged that the Okun people of Kogi West had consistently advocated for the opportunity to govern the state, describing the aspiration as understandable. However, he stressed that achieving the objective would require more than sustained agitation, urging political stakeholders in the district to embrace strategic planning, constructive engagement and cross-district cooperation.
According to him, the people of Kogi West must strengthen their political relationships with their brothers and sisters in Kogi East and Kogi Central to build the broad-based support required to advance their governorship ambition.
“But we need to come up with a good strategy and build alliances with our brothers from Kogi East and Central Senatorial Districts,” Olusoji said.
He maintained that unity and collaboration among the state’s three senatorial districts would be essential to addressing the political aspirations of the people and fostering a more inclusive political environment.
Beyond politics, the Asiwaju of Ayere Kingdom reaffirmed his commitment to the welfare and development of his people, promising to sustain his interventions in education, healthcare and social welfare.
Olusoji, who is the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Grosvenor Global Services Limited, observed that government alone could not meet all the needs of the people, noting that individuals and organisations with the capacity to help should complement public-sector efforts.
He explained that his philanthropic initiatives across Kogi State were designed to support government programmes and complement the administration of Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo in improving the welfare of citizens.
The businessman also expressed confidence in the electoral prospects of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), predicting a landslide victory for the party in the 2027 general elections.
The Ayere Cultural and New Yam Festival, an annual gathering of sons and daughters of the kingdom, traditional leaders, dignitaries and well-wishers, provides an opportunity for the community to celebrate its cultural heritage, strengthen bonds and deliberate on issues affecting its growth and development.
Olusoji’s remarks placed renewed emphasis on political strategy, inter-district cooperation and collective engagement as key considerations in Kogi West’s continuing quest for the governorship of Kogi State.
