Prof. Alanana, Mr.Ayibu, Others Calls For Non-Kinetic Approach To Surmount Nigeria’s Security Challenges.

With the rising Challenges of Insecurity Currently witnessed in Nigeria, from the resurgence of insurgency in the Northeast, and banditry in the Northwest, Marauding activities of Herdsmen in the North central and Separatist agitation in the Southeast and other actions of Criminal elements and enemies of the State in other regions of the Country, which has raised grave Concern amongst Nigerians, Government and Citizens alike.
Concern individuals, group and institutions of all human endeavors has Continue to brainstorm to come out with workable Solutions to Surmount this monsters called insecurity bedeviling the Nation.
it was on this note that the academic Community of the University of Abuja, under the auspices of Post Graduate Students Association,held a one day Security Dialogue to fashion out ways in which this Conundrum which has Consumed the lives of innocent Nigerians Could be addressed.
The Dialogue, themed, “Managing Insecurity for Development in a Multi-Ethnic Society “, attracted Participant from all Walks of life, as all Sections of the Society were represented at the Special Lecture, held, Wednesday, May 14,2025,at the Conference Center, Permanent site, University of Abuja, federal Capital Territory.
Setting the tune of the discussion,Otaki Osana Alanana,a Professor of Development and Security Expert, Department of Sociology, University of Abuja,explained that Nigeria’s ethnic, Cultural and religious diversity which ought to have been exploited for greatness has become a tool for selfish exploitation by greedy Nigerians particularly, the political Class, adding that this ugly trend has led to religious, ethnic and regional tensions and hostilities amongst Nigerians, not to talk about the bad leadership with it resultant effect of poor governance, amongst others,lack of patriotism, Corruption, religious bigotry and misplacement of priority to the detriment of the masses,all this according to Prof Alanana shakes the very fabric of Nigeria’s Security foundation and the Nation’s march to greatness.
Continuing, Prof. Alanana argued that, experience has shown that the application of force and Kinetic in tackling Security threats in Nigeria was no longer Yielding the desired results, saying the over fifteen years of the fight against terrorism in the Northeast Nigeria by the Military without any headway was an indication that such approach has to be changed.
He said,the ensense of the discussion was to Sensitize Nigerians on how everyone could contribute to the Security, peace and harmonious Coexistence of all Citizens, and to also spark up Conversations between the academic Community and security institutions in the Country, to profer lasting solution to the menaces of insecurity of any form.
In his recommendation, Alanana called for patriotic and Nationalistic leadership devoid of religious and ethnic bias,” the leadership that would be Committed to implementing the Social contract entered with the Citizens, and also ensure National integration”.He called for adequate funding of the Military and other Paramilitary Organizations, Capacity building through training and retraining of security personnel for improved Security of the Nation.
Also Speaking, the Coordinator of the Special Lecture, a PhD Student in the Department of Sociology and Criminology, Comrade Nuhu Ayibu , Corroborated Prof. Otaki Alanana’s assertion for the Government to seek alternative strategies to Curb the Challenges of Insecurity in the Country, adding that modern warfare doesn’t requires force and Kinetics, he called on the Nigerian Military to leverage technology, like Artificial Intelligence and other advance military technology to Surmount Challenges of Insecurity in the Country.
While Promising to sustain the intellectual dialogue,that brought together the Nation’s intelligentsia and Security experts from Government Institutions, he said recommendations will be presented to Government for policy making and implementation towards a secured Nigeria.

Ayubu Commended the Executive Chairman of Gwagwalada Areas Council Hon.Abubakar Jibril Giri for Subscribing to the the recommendations of the Academia in the University of Abuja, and also applying it to Surmount Security Challenges in the Area Council.
” Gwagwalada is an example of how a Country should be, you cannot solve the problem of insecurity when you have out of School Children, poor infrastructure, unemployed Youths, the Chairman consulted the University on the way forward, and today the Area Council is the most peaceful and Crime free in fct.
Earlier, Prof.Alanana had assured that the Lecture Committee would prepare a Communique during which all their Suggestions and recommendations shall be Clearly written and presented to Heads of Security Agencies in the Country,for onward passage for policy making and implementation.
