Re: Kogi PDP Accepts Joe Agada’s Withdrawal for Chairmanship Race.
The People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in Kogi State has a strong history, built by many who have worked hard and made sacrifices to keep it strong. Despite issues of loyalty in recent elections, there are still dedicated members fighting to protect the party’s values.
It’s important that the hard work of these loyal members isn’t undone by the selfish interests of a few. This is why, I, Capt. Joe Agada, want to lead the PDP in Kogi State—to ensure the party stays true to its principles and continues to thrive.
Recently, false information has spread about my supposed withdrawal from the Kogi State PDP chairmanship race. This misinformation, spread by Austin Usman Okai, needs to be corrected.
To clarify, I did not withdraw from the race. Instead, I chose not to participate in the congress due to serious concerns about the fairness and transparency of the process. I remain committed to democratic principles and fair play.
Austin Usman Okai seems to have misunderstood the difference between not participating and withdrawing. To be clear, I have taken the matter to court to challenge the flawed process of this congress. A legitimate state executive cannot be elected without first holding a proper 3-man ward delegate congress. A fair and transparent process is the foundation of democracy, and in this case, those values have been compromised.
It’s troubling that 717 names were reportedly selected in a private hotel room to favor a specific candidate. This act is not just unfair but also fraudulent. Furthermore, this candidate has been barred from holding any party office since 2019, a decision that has not been overturned. Attempting to elect such a candidate under these circumstances is a serious injustice to our party and the people.
I urge all party members, stakeholders, and the public to disregard the false claims made by Austin Usman Okai. The legal process is ongoing, and I am confident that justice will be served.
During these challenging times, it’s important that we stay true to the values that define our democracy. We should not allow those who seek to manipulate the system for personal gain to succeed. Instead, let’s work together to ensure our party remains a symbol of integrity, fairness, and transparency.
I remain committed to justice and believe that the truth will ultimately prevail.
Captain Joe Agada.
