Re: Owe Traditional Rulers Okay New KDU Executive Committee,

…You  cannot build anything on Nothing, Bobinihi Led Executives remain the legally constituted KDU

The attention of the newly elected executive council of Kabba Development Union under the leadership of Mr Emmanuel Bobinihi has been drawn to a dubious post claiming that Owe Traditional Rulers Okay New KDU Executive Committee.

This rebuttals would have ordinarily been needles but it has to be made in order to correct some false and misleading information surreptitiously sponsored to injure the psyche of not only our unsuspecting traditional rulers but also that of the entire good people of Owe land who freely and graciously voted to elect the very credible executive members of KDU under the able leadership of Mr Emmanuel Bobinihi.

Suffice it to state that the online voting of 20th April 2025 which was free and fair has been applauded by well meaning Owe sons and daughters across the globe.

Critics of the election process should however be educated on the popular saying that the only constant thing in life is change.

It became imperative that the outgone executive members had to resort to online voting because of:

1. The Executive Governor, His Excellency, Alhaji Usman Ododo in addressing the pervasive insecurity in our country had wisely issued an order prohibiting among other measures, rallies, crowd, social and political gatherings etc. The Executive Committee being a responsible and law abiding organization chose to avoid any breach

2. Also, it would not be cost effective to allow delegates resident outside Kabba and even abroad who are eminently qualifed to vote, to travel to Kabba to exercise their franchise in view of the spate of insecurity and safety concerns on our roads.

It’s very worrisome to note that our traditional rulers who are supposedly the custodians of our moral and spiritual values could be brazenly tricked into attending a purported peace and reconciliation meeting, while the communique issued at the end of the meeting pointed to a different purpose!

Verifiable information from some of the attendees of the phantom meeting revealed that there was no mention of the endorsement of any illegal executive committee of KDU as claimed in the misleading information.

It is however pertinent to ask: when have we found ourselves in this monumental mess, reign of deceit and impunity? Why were the very innocent traditional rulers made to write their names and sign, if there was no sinister motive behind the meeting? The conspiracy of silence which over the years had been drawing our community back should be vehemently rejected by every Owe people. Enough is enough.

Finally, after extensive deliberations with well meaning Owe sons and daughters across the globe and also some of the traditional rulers that were tricked into attending the meeting, we wish to join our voices with theirs to dissociate ourselves from the purported endorsement which is not only illegal but also unconstitutional.

This brigandage is alien to Owe land and is capable of setting our dear Owe community on the precipice of destruction and anarchy.

The right time to get rid of ideological ambush of our revered traditional rulers is now. Let us all allow Owe Kingdom to grow during our time.
Thank you all.

Signed:

Kehinde Owohunwa,

Secretary General, KDU
