We, the Concerned Citizens of Kebbi South Senatorial District, wish to respond to the misleading statement credited to one Usman Muhammad Gwazawa, who attempted to defend the Kebbi State APC Chairman, Alhaji Muhammad Abubakar Kana Zuru, against growing public concerns over the unfair treatment of Distinguished Senator Garba Musa Maidoki.
First and foremost, if truly Usman Muhammad Gwazawa is an APC stakeholder speaking on behalf of the party, why has the State Publicity Secretary remained silent? Why is the party chairman unable to defend himself directly? This clearly raises questions about the credibility and motive behind Usman Muhammad Gwazawa’s intervention. It appears he has been sponsored to speak merely to attack Senator Maidoki and distract the public from the real issues affecting Kebbi South.
Usman Muhammad Gwazawa, who hails from Danko/Wasagu Local Government in Zuru Emirate, should focus more attention on the serious insecurity affecting his people rather than engaging in political attacks against a serving Senator who has performed creditably well. The people of Danko/Wasagu and other affected communities continue to suffer from banditry and insecurity, yet we have not seen Usman Gwazawa use his so-called influence as a stakeholder to advocate strongly for government intervention or improved security presence in his hometown.
Instead of speaking on insecurity, youth unemployment, and community development, he has chosen to defend political interests and attack Senator Maidoki simply to satisfy his political masters.
We also find it disturbing that the APC leadership is allegedly attempting to impose candidates instead of allowing democracy and party primaries to take their rightful course. If the party chairman claims neutrality, why is he openly involved in actions targeted at Senator Maidoki? Democracy demands fairness, transparency, and respect for the wishes of the people, not political intimidation or manipulation.
The truth remains that Senator Garba Musa Maidoki has delivered visible dividends of democracy across Kebbi South Senatorial District. His achievements speak louder than propaganda and sponsored attacks.
Among his numerous achievements are:
Securing recruitment opportunities for over 93 youths into the Nigerian Army, Facilitating employment for more than 73 youths into the Nigeria Police Force, Providing scholarships to over 1,226 students, including beneficiaries at Yaro University, Securing employment opportunities for more than 74 graduates.
Conducting medical outreach programs benefiting over 5,000 people, Renovating Martha Bamaiyi General Hospital in Zuru with modern equipment worth over ₦1.2 billion, Supporting the Veterinary Hospital project valued at over ₦750 million,
Contributing to road development projects from Birnin Yauri to Rijau, Zuru, and Zauna worth over ₦2 billion and Facilitating the establishment of Army camps in several parts of Kebbi South to strengthen security. These are projects and interventions that directly impact the lives of ordinary citizens.
It is therefore unfortunate that some individuals who contributed nothing meaningful to the development of Kebbi South are now leading campaigns against a performing Senator. The people of Kebbi South are politically aware and cannot be deceived by sponsored statements or political blackmail.
We advise Usman Muhammad Gwazawa to concentrate on advocating for peace, security, and development in Danko/Wasagu Local Government instead of attacking a Senator whose performance continues to receive commendation across Kebbi South.
No amount of propaganda can erase the achievements of Senator Garba Musa Maidoki. The people will always stand with leaders who deliver results, empower youths, support education, improve healthcare, and prioritize security.
Finally, we urge the APC leadership in Kebbi State to respect democratic principles, avoid internal injustice, and allow the people of Kebbi South to decide their political future freely and fairly.
Signed:
Concerned Citizens of Kebbi South Senatorial District
