SANGA LGA CHAIRMAN, HON. ANTO USMAN FLAGS OFF DISTRIBUTION OF FREE FERTILIZER TO FARMERS

… Says Gov Uba Sani’s 2026 Agricultural Support Programme targets 150,000 smallholder farmers in Kaduna

The Executive Chairman of Sanga Local Government Area, Hon. Anto Usman, on Thursday flagged off the distribution of free fertilizer and farm equipment to farmers in the council under Governor Uba Sani’s 2026 agricultural support programme.

The flag-off, held at the LGA secretariat, marks the commencement of the state-wide intervention aimed at boosting food production and supporting smallholder farmers across Kaduna State.

Speaking at the event, Hon. Usman said the initiative will provide free fertilizer and tractors to 150,000 smallholder farmers across the 23 LGAs of the state.

According to him, Governor Sani opted for free distribution instead of subsidies because “subsidized prices are still beyond the reach of many smallholder farmers.”

“Agriculture contributes 43% to Kaduna’s GDP and employs 60-80% of our workforce. This is not just fertilizer, it’s food security, it’s livelihoods, it’s our future,” the Chairman stated.

He commended Governor Uba Sani for prioritizing agriculture and for rolling out a programme that directly targets those who feed the state.

“Thank you, Governor Uba Sani, for your commitment to our farmers. This intervention will reduce production costs, increase yield, and improve income for our people in Sanga,” Hon. Usman added.

Beneficiaries at the flag-off expressed appreciation to the state government, noting that the free inputs will help them expand cultivation ahead of the 2026 farming season.

Officials of the State Ministry of Agriculture were present to supervise the distribution and to ensure that the inputs get to genuine farmers through the verified register of cooperatives and farmer groups.

The Governor’s 2026 agricultural support programme is part of efforts to strengthen food security, create jobs, and grow the non-oil economy in Kaduna State.
