The Distinguish Senator Garba Musa Maidoki, representing Kebbi South Senatorial District, has expressed deep concern and profound sadness over the recent abduction of female students from Government Girls Secondary School, Maga, in Danko/Wasagu Local Government Area of Kebbi State.
In a statement released in Abuja on Monday by his Special Assistant, Hon. Dantani Yalo, Senator Maidoki described the incident as a heartbreaking tragedy that has shaken not only the affected families but the entire Kebbi South community.
According to Hon. Yalo, Senator Maidoki has been in continuous contact with relevant security authorities since the news of the abduction broke. “The Distinguished Senator Garba Musa Maidoki expresses deep concern and stands in total solidarity with the families of the abducted students. We share in their pain and remain firmly committed to bringing the girls home safely,” Yalo conveyed.
Senator Maidoki revealed that he has hardly slept since receiving information on the attack. He noted that the thought of the young girls—many of whom are children of poor farmers and local traders—being dragged away from their classrooms has weighed heavily on his heart.
“Since the moment I heard of this terrible incident, I have not rested. These are our daughters, our future mothers, future leaders. I am doing everything within my capacity to ensure they are rescued unharmed,” the Senator said. He called on the people of Kebbi State and Nigerians at large to intensify prayers for the safe return of the girls.
Senator Maidoki strongly condemned the assault, describing it as a cowardly attack on education and the future of young Nigerians. He further lamented the reported killing of school officials during the incident, stating that no society should tolerate violence against those dedicated to educating its children.
“He condemns the reprehensible attack on innocent students and the killing of school officials who were carrying out their noble duty,” the statement read. “Such acts of terror will never break our resolve.”
Senator Maidoki disclosed that the nation’s security and intelligence agencies have been directed to intensify rescue operations. He emphasized that the abductors will not escape justice.
“Our security and intelligence agencies have been given clear directives to locate, rescue, and safely return the students, and ensure the perpetrators face full justice,” he asserted.
He reaffirmed that improving the nation’s security architecture remains a priority of the government, noting that efforts are ongoing to recalibrate military, intelligence, and policing operations—particularly in regions vulnerable to banditry and terrorism.
While acknowledging the fear and anxiety gripping communities in Kebbi South, Senator Maidoki appealed for calm, unity, and patience as security agencies work tirelessly to resolve the situation.
“I urge our people to remain calm and continue supporting government efforts. Together we will overcome this challenge, and our daughters will return home safely,” he said.
As the search continues, Maga town and surrounding communities remain tense but united. Parents and relatives of the missing girls have continued to gather in mosques and community centers, offering prayers for their safe return. Civil society groups, local vigilante units, and youth associations have also pledged cooperation with security agencies.
Senator Maidoki has assured that he will continue to monitor developments closely and maintain constant communication with security officials, state authorities, and the affected families until the girls are reunited with their loved ones.
