Senator Jibrin Isah Echocho Empowers Ankpa Residents with Vocational Training and Start-up Support.
Earlier today in Ankpa Local Government Area (LGA), Senator Jibrin Isah Echocho continued his vocational and entrepreneurial training programme under the theme “Training and Empowerment/Capacity Building for Youth and Women in Kogi East on Viable Business Strategies.” This initiative, which has already benefitted other areas within the Idah Federal Constituency, is now focused on empowering the people of Ankpa Federal Constituency.
A key highlight was the distribution of a hundred thousand Naira stipends to help participants overcome the financial challenges of starting their businesses. Speaking through his representative, Senator Echocho addressed the crowd, emphasising that everything given out was aimed at easing the initial burden and allowing participants to focus on building their businesses. He reiterated that this programme is part of his larger vision to create job opportunities and reduce poverty in Kogi East Senatorial District.
Senator Echocho also announced that participants would receive essential equipment as part of the package. Trainees in different trades were handed tools specific to their line of work—sewing machines for tailors, pumping machines and farm inputs for trained farmers, generators and catering equipment for those in the food business. This gesture ensures that with trainings completed, participants can immediately put their skills into practice and start earning an income.
The programme, which empowered hundreds of beneficiaries from across the Federal Constituency, and it’s expected to have a far-reaching impact. Many of the participants expressed their excitement and gratitude for the opportunity, stating that the training and financial support would significantly improve their ability to provide for themselves and their families. One of the beneficiaries, a young woman from Omala LGA who received training in tailoring, said the support has given her “a real chance to stand on my own.”
By equipping residents of the Federal Constituency with skills and resources, Senator Echocho aims to stimulate economic activity in the area, with new businesses expected to generate jobs and improve local livelihoods. With formal job opportunities limited, the skills gained here are expected to open doors to self-employment and community-based job creation, reducing dependency on external sources of income.
Today’s launch is just one in a series of efforts by Senator Jibrin Isah Echocho to address the pressing needs of his constituents. His dedication to the socio-economic development of Kogi East is evident, and Ankpa, Olamaboro, and Omala LGAs are grateful for this gesture towards building a more self-sufficient and prosperous Federal Constituency.
