…Describes Him as a Good Ambassador, Urges Ijumu Electorate to Support Tinubu
Senator Sunday Steve Karimi, representing Kogi West Senatorial District, has donated ₦5 million to the Ayere Community Palace Project in Ijumu Local Government Area of Kogi State.
The donation was announced during the 31st edition of the Atuwusi Ayere Community Cultural and New Yam Festival, 2026.
The senator also commended Asiwaju Prince Olatunji Olusoji for projecting the community positively through his contributions to development and humanitarian service.
Karimi described Prince Olusoji, the Asiwaju of Ayere Kingdom, as a good ambassador of the community, noting that his commitment to philanthropy and community development had continued to bring honour to Ayere and its people.
Addressing the gathering and journalists at the festival, Senator Karimi said he had remained committed to delivering the dividends of democracy since assuming office as the senator representing Kogi West in 2023.
He stressed that his achievements cut across education, infrastructure and the provision of motorised boreholes across the 85 wards in Kogi West Senatorial District, including Ayere/Arima Ward.
The senator said his interventions reflected the efforts of the All Progressives Congress (APC) to alleviate the suffering of Nigerians and improve their living conditions.
He urged the people to remain supportive of the current administration, expressing optimism that Nigeria could overcome its challenges and achieve sustainable development under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
Karimi encouraged continued support for the APC, saying the country should not return to what he described as the difficult conditions of the past.
He maintained that the administration’s ongoing reforms offered an opportunity for national recovery and urged Nigerians to remain hopeful as the country worked towards a better future.
The ₦5 million donation is expected to contribute to the development of the Ayere Community Palace, a project aimed at providing a suitable facility for community engagements and traditional activities.
The senator’s commendation of Prince Olusoji also highlighted the role of community leaders, philanthropists and public office holders in promoting grassroots development and fostering unity among the people.
Prince Olusoji, a renowned entrepreneur and philanthropist, is the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Grosvenor Global Services Limited. He has been involved in various community-oriented initiatives aimed at improving people’s living conditions.
Beyond the donation, Senator Karimi urged eligible voters in Ijumu Local Government Area to support President Tinubu in the 2027 presidential election.
He called on the electorate to participate actively in the democratic process and exercise their voting rights, stressing that citizens had an important role to play in determining the country’s leadership and development direction.
The appeal comes as political activities and consultations gradually gather momentum ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Dignitaries who attended the festival included Kogi State Governor, Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo, who was represented by the Secretary to the Kogi State Government, Mrs. Folashade Arike Ayoade; Commander Jerry Omodara (rtd.); Hon. Ade Omofaiye; Hon. Ibrahim Haruna; the Chairman of Ijumu Local Government Area; traditional rulers; and other prominent personalities.
The annual Atuwusi festival provides an opportunity for the people of Ayere to celebrate their cultural heritage, promote unity and bring community members and well-wishers together to reflect on the town’s development and future aspirations.
The donation and the recognition of Prince Olusoji at the event underscored the importance of collaboration among political leaders, traditional institutions, philanthropists and community stakeholders in advancing development across Ijumu and the wider Okunland.
