Senator Karimi Mourns Ayegunle Bunu Kidnap, Urges Security Agencies to Rescue Abductees, Prosecute Criminals

Senator Sunday Steven Karimi, representing Kogi West Senatorial District, has commiserated with the people of Ayegunle Bunu in Kabba-Bunu Local Government Area over a kidnapping incident that occurred in the early hours of Monday, June 1, 2026.

In a statement issued by his DSSK Media Team, the senator expressed deep sympathy with affected families, the Ayegunle Bunu community, and the entire Kabba-Bunu LGA. He prayed for God’s comfort and for the safe and speedy release of all victims.

Karimi charged security agencies to intensify rescue efforts, not only for those abducted in Ayegunle Bunu but also for others still in captivity across the district. He demanded that perpetrators be arrested and prosecuted without delay.

“I sympathize with the families of the victims of the kidnapping incident that happened in Ayegunle Bunu, Kabba-Bunu LGA, in the early hours of today. I also share the emotional burden of this unfortunate incident where lives were lost and several people were taken away by criminals. This occurrence must stop,” the senator said.

“This right can never be negotiated by criminals who have been terrorizing our communities and inflicting untold hardship and terror on our people,” he added, stressing that the right of citizens to live safely “can never be negotiated.”

The senator also commended security personnel for their recent gallantry, noting their success in rescuing over 20 abductees in previous operations. He urged them to be more proactive by maximizing intelligence gathering to prevent future attacks.

Concluding, Karimi urged victims’ families and the community not to lose hope, expressed confidence in divine intervention and in the capacity of security operatives to secure the release of all abductees. He further called on residents to remain vigilant and provide credible intelligence to security agencies.

The June 1 attack adds to growing concerns over insecurity in Kogi West, with calls mounting for stronger community-security collaboration.
