Senator Maidoki’s Football Initiative Unites Youth in Fakai.

A remarkable youth development initiative sponsored by Distinguished Senator Garba Musa Maidoki has successfully brought together young people across Fakai Local Government Area of Kebbi State, using football as a powerful tool for unity, peace, and social progress.
The football tournament, which covered four major districts—Birnin Tudu, Mahuta, Marafa, and Bajida—was officially concluded in Bajida District on Monday, March 30, 2026, marking a historic milestone for grassroots sports in the Senatorial District.
Speaking at the closing ceremony, the Senator’s representative, Hon. Dantani Yalo, described the tournament as a transformative initiative that fostered peaceful coexistence and strengthened relationships among youths in Kebbi South.
According to him, the competition successfully brought together young people from different communities under the traditional leadership of His Royal Highness, the Emir of Fakai, Alhaji Hudu Dan Mallam, reinforcing unity across the four emirates.
“This football competition has created a new atmosphere of peace, understanding, and brotherhood among our youths,” Hon. Yalo stated.
He further emphasized that the tournament was conducted in a calm and orderly manner, reflecting the vision and expectations of Senator Maidoki even before its commencement.
Also speaking, the Senator’s aide, Hajiya Lubabatu Yusuf Mahuta, highlighted that the initiative aligns with the Senator’s broader mission of improving the welfare of the people and empowering young individuals to build a better future.
She noted that investing in youth development remains central to the Senator’s agenda, particularly in promoting discipline, productivity, and social responsibility among young people.
Hon. Dantani Yalo, who serves as Legislative Assistant to Senator Maidoki, played a key role throughout the tournament—from inception to completion—working closely with organizers and consistently encouraging the players.

In Bajida, the Peni team further demonstrated appreciation by organizing a dinner to honor Senator Maidoki and key stakeholders, during which awards were presented to both the Senator and Hajiya Lubabatu Yusuf Mahuta. This marked a historic moment, as it was the first major football tournament of its kind in the area, with Peni advancing to the finals.
