SENATOR SUNDAY STEVE KARIMI CELEBRATES OGIDI PEOPLE AT ANNUAL OGIDI DAY FESTIVAL, REAFFIRMS COMMITMENT TO UNITY AND DEVELOPMENT

The Senator representing Kogi West Senatorial District, Senator Sunday Steve Karimi, has extended warm felicitations and heartfelt congratulations to the good people of Ogidi Kingdom on the occasion of the 2026 Annual Ogidi Day Festival, describing the cultural celebration as a symbol of unity, peace, progress and the rich heritage of the people.
Though unavoidably absent, Senator Karimi was ably represented by a delegation of his loyal associates and supporters who attended the colourful festival to identify with the people of Ogidi Kingdom and convey the Senator’s goodwill message.
Members of the delegation included Hon. Akanmode Dayo, Hon. Dr. Kamaldeen Toyin, Comrade Olorunhudo Samuel Taiwo, Hon. Akintoye Fanodun and Hon. Alao Depolitician, all of whom joined traditional rulers, community leaders, sons and daughters of Ogidi Kingdom, as well as distinguished guests from different walks of life, in celebrating the annual cultural event.
Speaking on behalf of Senator Sunday Steve Karimi, Hon. Dr. Kamaldeen Toyin, the Senior Special Assistant on Local Content to the Executive Governor of Kogi State, delivered a goodwill message to the people of Ogidi Kingdom, conveying the Senator’s appreciation to the people for preserving their cultural values and promoting peaceful coexistence among the various communities in Kogi West.
He described the people of Ogidi as industrious, hospitable and peace-loving, noting that their contributions to the growth and development of Kogi State and Nigeria at large remain immeasurable. He further emphasized that the annual Ogidi Day Festival has continued to serve as a platform for strengthening communal ties, fostering unity and promoting cultural identity among the people.
According to him, Senator Sunday Steve Karimi remains proud of the remarkable achievements and enduring legacy of the Ogidi people and is committed to supporting initiatives and programmes that will bring sustainable development to communities across Kogi West Senatorial District.
“Senator Sunday Steve Karimi sends his warm greetings and best wishes to the entire people of Ogidi Kingdom on this auspicious occasion. He commends the traditional institution, community leaders and all sons and daughters of Ogidi for their steadfast commitment to peace, unity and development. He prays that the kingdom will continue to experience unprecedented growth, prosperity and progress,” Hon. Dr. Kamaldeen Toyin stated.
Members of the Senator’s delegation also expressed appreciation to the people of Ogidi Kingdom for their warm reception and hospitality during the festival. They reiterated Senator Karimi’s unwavering commitment to quality representation, grassroots development and the overall advancement of Kogi West Senatorial District.
Comrade Olorunhudo Samuel Taiwo, one of the prominent members of the delegation, praised the people of Ogidi for sustaining their cherished cultural heritage and maintaining a reputation for peaceful coexistence and accommodation. He noted that the annual festival has become a rallying point for unity and an avenue for showcasing the rich cultural endowments of the kingdom.
He further stated that Senator Sunday Steve Karimi remains deeply connected to the aspirations of the people and has continued to demonstrate visionary leadership and effective representation at the National Assembly.
The event witnessed the presence of traditional rulers, political stakeholders, community leaders, youth groups, women organizations and prominent sons and daughters of Ogidi Kingdom, all united in celebrating the rich cultural heritage and collective aspirations of the ancient community.
Observers at the festival described the participation of Senator Karimi’s representatives as a demonstration of the Senator’s enduring relationship with the people of Ogidi and his commitment to promoting unity, inclusiveness and grassroots engagement across Kogi West Senatorial District.
