Senator Sunday Steve Karimi – Two Years Of Significant Milestone

May 29th, 2025 marks Distinguished Senator Sunday Steve Karimi’s two years in office representing Kogi West.

In a norms, the past few years have been a roller- coaster but very impressively, eventful.

This adventures leave constituents with mixed feelings amid the excruciating national economic impasse.

No doubt, Kogi West is largely remarkable for it’s vibrant culture, agrarian nature, human capital endowment, vast resources, dynamic population etc.

One incontrovertible giant feat of Senator Karimi is the payment of bursary for students in higher citadel of learning of Kogi West extraction, aimed at increasing the literacy rate, ensuring that education is accessible and lessen the financial burden on parents.

He recently announced plans to extend bursary awards worth 300 million naira in his district and also building a 160 million naira Computer – Based Center in Egbe.

Water infrastructure development is one fundamental priority of Sen. Karimi since assumption of office.

For a fact, he has facilitated & constructed at least a functional borehole in each ward that comprises Kogi West Senatorial District.

In some areas where electricity supply are non- existent or erratic, solar – powered boreholes have been constructed.

Recently, the Senator attended the 2025 Ekinrin – Adde Day Celebration, donating a whopping 10 million naira & pledging an additional 50 million naira for community development.

In his legislative capacity as Senator & Chairman, Senate Services Committee, Distinguished Senator Sunday Karimi has been instrumental in numerous legislative initiatives that are people – centred, sustainable and impactful.

Insecurity issues like kidnapping, armed robbery & communal conflicts was a recurring decima before 2023 general election.

In order to summount the myriad of insecurity challenges bedeviling Kogi West, Senator Karimi took bold steps to enhancing security, protection of lives and property, including construction of a well – equipped military base & launching community policing initiatives.

The persistent security challenges have drastically affected economic activities, particularly in agriculture & rural development, due to numerous people being displaced from their homes and farmlands.

In order to curtail this menace, Senator Karimi embarked on collaborative efforts through evolving a robust, effective & comprehensive strategy to combating the remote causes of insecurity, which include but not limited to – abject poverty, social inequality, unemployment etc.

In view of the geometric progression in unemployment in Kogi West, the Peoples’ Representative is also creating pathways to enduring prosperity by silently securing job opportunities for unemployed youths.

Albeit, inflation and high cost of living is not peculiar to Kogi West alone, concerted efforts have been made by Senator Karimi to periodically cushion the effect of low purchasing power of dear constituents by regularly providing palliatives & succour where required.

With exactitude, Distinguished Senator Sunday Karimi has made commendable progress in infrastructure development, agriculture, empowerment drives, education, health, social welfare schemes etc.

These laudable efforts reflect his commitment to driving sustainable development and improving the lives of constituents, through continued focus, effective and efficient governance.

All these feats achieved by Senator Sunday Steve Karimi (Kogi West, APC), in a very short time are testament to how Kogi West will learn from the errors of the past, forge ahead from its present challenges and attaining a prosperous, viable and stable Kogi West Senatorial District.
