ABUJA — Former Kano State Governor, Senator Ibrahim Shekarau, on Wednesday held a closed-door meeting with All Progressives Congress (APC) chieftain, Alhaji Abdulsalam Abdulkarim Zaura, popularly known as A.A. Zaura, in Abuja, amid growing political consultations ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Sources said Shekarau visited Zaura at his residence in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), where both leaders engaged in extensive discussions focused on political developments and preparations for the next electoral cycle.
Speaking after the meeting, Zaura reportedly assured the former governor that he would pay a return visit to him in Kano, a gesture seen by observers as a sign of continued political engagement between the two influential APC figures.
The meeting comes at a time when key APC stakeholders in Kano State are intensifying consultations and strategic realignments ahead of the party’s future primaries and the 2027 general elections.
Zaura, a businessman and philanthropist who contested the Kano Central Senatorial District under the APC in the 2023 general election, remains one of the party’s leading political figures in the state.
Political analysts note that the meeting is significant, as both Shekarau and Zaura have recently been associated with the race for the APC’s Kano Central Senatorial District, highlighting the importance of dialogue and party unity as preparations for 2027 continue.
