SHELL ASSETS DIVESTMENT:
An Appeal to Renaissance Africa Energy Company to Use Ogunu Warri As Their Headquarter Base

By Wilson Macaulay

lt is an incontrovertible truism that
the proposed departure of Shell Petroleum Oil Company from Delta State will leave a significant void in the socioeconomic fabric of Warri and its surrounding communities.
For decades, unaguably, Shell played a pivotal role in sustaining the economic well-being of Warri, there by contributing immersely to its growth and development.
However, skirmishes of clashes with some youths of our host communities,
or general unrest led to Shell’s departure, leaving behind a community in need of revitalization to this moment.

Now, as Renaissance Africa Energy Company is stepping in to fill the shoes left vacant by Shell, there is a unique opportunity to revive the fortunes of Warri and Delta State. Renaissance Africa Energy Company from information at our dispisal have acquired Shell’s divested assets of onshore operations in Nigeria, presenting a chance to continue the legacy of socioeconomic progress in Warri by returning back to statisquo.

It is germane and imperative that Renaissance Africa Energy Company should consider the profound impact of its decision regarding the location of its headquarters. Stationing their base at Ogunu, as Shell did in the past, would not only honor the legacy of Shell but also serve as a beacon of hope for the revitalization of Warri and its environs.

The importance of a strong corporate presence in Warri cannot be overstated. Beyond providing employment opportunities, a headquarters in Warri would stimulate economic activity, attract investment, and foster community development initiatives. Furthermore, it would reaffirm Renaissance Africa Energy Company’s commitment to being a responsible corporate citizen, actively engaging with and supporting the communities in which it operates.

Allowing Renaissance Africa Energy Company to operate its headquarters base outside Warri would have detrimental effects on the local economy and the broader Delta State . It would perpetuate the socioeconomic paucity that has plagued Warri since Shell’s departure, further exacerbating existing challenges and hindering progress.

By choosing to establish their base in Warri, Renaissance Africa Energy Company has the opportunity to make a lasting and positive impact on the lives of countless individuals. It is not merely about business; it is about investing in people, empowering communities, and driving sustainable development.

In making this appeal, we urge Renaissance Africa Energy Company to recognize the potential of Warri and Delta State, to embrace the spirit of collaboration, and to seize the opportunity to be a catalyst for change. Together, we can revitalize Warri, reignite economic growth, and build a brighter future for all who call this region home.
The Delta State Government, under the watch of RT Hon Sheriff Oborevwori should pull the necesary strings to birth our candid desire.

Let us not miss this chance to write a new chapter in the history of Warri. A narrative marked by progress, prosperity, and partnership. The time to act is now, and the opportunity is ours to seize.Warri can never carry last.God bless Delta State.
