SSA to President Tinubu on Community Engagement South -South Visits FUPRE, Promises

Senior Special Assistant to the President on Community Engagement, South-South, Hon. Gift Johnbull during a scheduled visit to the Federal University of Petroleum Resources, Effurun on Thursday January 18th, 2024, has promised to facilitate Federal government intervention towards the development of the institution.

Speaking during a session with the University Management, Hon. Johnbull described her visit as home-coming for the actualization of the Renewed Hope agenda of the President, promising to convey the needs of the university to the President on return to facilitate the needed access for government interventions.

Earlier, in his presentation, the Vice-Chancellor Engr. Prof. Akpofure Rim-Rukeh FNES, while appreciating the SSA to the President and her team for the visit said “the university is confronted with several challenges such as near absence of power supply, insufficient infrastructural facilities such as Lecture Theatres, Students Hostels, Laboratories Equipment, Digital Materials, resulting in very low carrying capacity to admit students.”

The VC however appealed to the President through the SSA for construction of 500 Capacity bed space Male Hostel to be named after the President and another 500 Capacity Bed Space Female Hostel to be named after Her Excellency, the wife of the President, Senator Oluremi Tinubu Hostel.

Other special projects requiring urgent intervention presented by the VC were construction of Phase Two of the University Health Centre, the VC’s Lodge, Principal Officers’ Residence, 4 Coaster Buses for Students Field Trips, Ambulance for the Health Centre, Provision of Power (Solar System), special funding for researches and commercialization of the university innovations.

During the visit, Hon. Johnbull had the opportunity to tour the Laboratories and Workshops, Classrooms, Research Centres, and student facilities where groundbreaking research innovations were highlighted.

Present at the event were the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Admin) Prof. Doris Ogeleka; Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Acad) Engr. (Prof.) Godswill Ofualagba, Registrar, Dr. (Mrs.) Omoyine E. Jane; Rep of Bursar, Mr. Eruteyan Joshua and the University Librarian, Prof. Mercy Anyaegbu.

While on the entourage of the SSA were her Technical Advisers, Iyagi Abraham Earnestl and Richard Noriode; Technical Assistant, Raphael Noriode, Personal Assistant, Johnbull Raphael and an intern, Boyitie David.
