Tactical Squad Destroyed Criminal Hideout in Yagba, Rescued Kidnapped Victim.
The joint security task force of the Lion Squad and Scorpion teams in Yagba has recorded yet another success after an intelligence report, the joint security team rescued a victim who armed bandits kidnapped on his farmland around Eriji, one of the Ebira settlements on Thursday 26th February, 2026.
Following a distress alert from the people around the Igbo Ero community about sighting the armed bandits fleeing from a neighboring community Irele, Ekiti state, the Lion Squad swiftly moved to the forest and pursued the suspected bandits along their escape route.
The Lion squad team continued in the forest for three days and targeted their search missions in the forest that en route Ponyan, and the neighbouring state to address any attack and kidnappings.
According to reports, the victim Mr Idris Idowu who was abducted by suspected bandits and taken into the deep forest, upon receiving credible information, the Lion Squad and Scorpion Squad moved quickly into the bush to track the kidnappers.
The joint team in the early hours of the following day located the kidnappers’ hideout around a rocky area called “Aso rock” with the forest, the team engaged the criminals in a heavy exchange of gunfire which lasted for hours in the forest.
Through courage and commitment, the Lion and Scorpion squad maintained surveillance and prevented the criminals from escaping or relocating with their victim, the gunfire exchange forced the criminals to abandon their victim.
They were overpowered by the coordinated tactical response of both the Lion and Scorpion squads, as reports indicated that some of the suspected criminals sustained gunshot injuries during the confrontation.
Mr. Idris Idowu was successfully rescued alive and safely evacuated from the forest to reunite with his family, no causalities were recorded among the members of the Lion and Scorpion Squads.
The tactical team appreciates Hon. Leke Abejide, member of the House of Representatives and the leader of the Lion squad team Hon. Ashiru Segun for their support in cracking down on the kidnappers’ dens and for Operation Yagba to be safe from kidnappers, the team called on residents to provide credible and timely information to help combat kidnappings and other criminal activities across Yagba Federal Constituency.
