TAKETE/IJEMU DAY: YAGBA EAST CHAIRMAN DONATES ₦5M, BAGS EXCELLENCE AWARD, FLAGS OFF CLASSROOM PROJECT IN HONOUR OF LATE MOTHER

The Executive Chairman of Yagba East Local Government Area, Hon. (Dr.) Joshua Dare Monday, has restated his commitment to grassroots development with a ₦5 million donation and the flag-off of a four-classroom project during the 2026 Takete/Ijemu Day celebration held on Saturday, July 18, 2026.

The annual Takete/Ijemu Day, also known as the New Yam Festival, brings together indigenes of Takete Isao and well-wishers to celebrate culture, thanksgiving, and community development.
As a personal intervention, Hon. (Dr.) Dare Monday announced the construction of four modern classrooms at Takete Isao Secondary School in memory of his late mother, Mrs. Bamitale Joshua.
He said the project, scheduled for completion within four months, is a tribute to his mother’s legacy of service and belief in education.
“This project is a personal tribute to the cherished memory and enduring legacy of my late mother, who believed strongly in education, service, and community development,” the Chairman stated.
He added that investing in education remains central to his administration’s plan to secure the future of the younger generation.
The Council Chairman also donated ₦5 million to support ongoing community development initiatives in Takete Isao.
He urged residents to sustain peace, unity, and cooperation as critical pillars for growth.
In recognition of his contributions, the Takete Development Association presented Hon. (Dr.) Joshua Dare Monday with an Award of Excellence in Community Development.
According to the association, the award honours his exceptional leadership, developmental strides, and consistent support for communities across Yagba East Local Government Area.
The event drew dignitaries from within and outside Yagba East. It featured vibrant cultural displays, traditional dances, goodwill messages, and celebrations that showcased the rich heritage and unity of the Takete Isao people.
Community leaders and residents commended the Chairman for combining governance with philanthropy, noting that his interventions in education and infrastructure are already impacting lives across the LGA.
