THE ANYIGBA MATERNAL FAMILY OF PAAU VC PAYS COURTESY VISIT

The Vice-Chancellor of Prince Abubakar Audu University (PAAU), Anyigba, Professor Salisu Ogbo Usman, received in audience the Oyibo family from Agwudoko in Anyigba, the host community of the University yesterday in his office Wednesday 13th May, 2026.

The Oyibo family led by Chief Wada Oyibo, the Ohioma Ejeh, and other members of the extended family paid a courtesy visit on the Vice-Chancellor who is their son, and offered prayers, pledging their support for the success of his administration.

The delegation felicitated with Prof. Usman on his well-deserved appointment and offered prayers for a successful tenure.

Speaking on behalf of the family, Chief Wada Oyibo commended the Vice-Chancellor for his humility, fairness and leadership qualities, noting that his emergence had brought pride to the family and the wider community.

He observed that Prof. Usman’s achievements, particularly during his tenure as Rector of Kogi State Polytechnic, Lokoja, played a significant role in his appointment as the Vice-Chancellor of Prince Abubakar Audu University, Anyigba.

Chief Oyibo paid tribute to the former Governor, His Excellency, Alhaji Yahaya Adoza Bello, CON for his foresight and recognition of the Vice-Chancellor’s capacity, as well as to the incumbent Governor, His Excellency, Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo, for sustaining that confidence through the appointment of Professor Usman as the Vice-Chancellor, PAAU.

He described the Vice-Chancellor as a mentor and role model to many, and prayed for divine wisdom, strength and continued success in his leadership of the institution.

In his response, Prof. Usman appreciated the family for the visit and for identifying with him, describing the gesture as a rare and deeply valued honour from his maternal lineage.

Reflecting on his career journey, the Vice-Chancellor likened it to the refinement of gold through stages of discipline, sacrifice and perseverance.

He acknowledged the role of the former Governor Yahaya Adoza Bello, CON in his professional growth and emphasized the importance of integrity, transparency and accountability in leadership.

Prof. Usman stressed the significance of family support and prayers, particularly from mothers, noting their enduring impact on his personal and professional success.

He assured the delegation that he would not disappoint the confidence reposed in him.

In his words, “We will do our best, and at the end of our tenure, we should be able to look back at the transformation recorded under our administration.”

He also appreciated the support of his Principal Officers and assured that his administration would remain focused on achieving meaningful progress and institutional development.

The Vice-Chancellor further urged the Oyibo’s family to continue to support the State Government under Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo, while reaffirming his commitment to fairness, justice and inclusiveness.

In a vote of thanks, the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic), Professor Simeon Abiodun Ige, appreciated the family for the visit and called for sustained support for the Vice-Chancellor’s administration.

Highlight of the visit was the presentation of a photo portrait and kola nuts to the Vice-Chancellor, symbolizing honour, cultural respect and the family’s goodwill.
