TOGETHER WE ARE STRONGER; THE VOICE FROM KOGI WEST.
BY SHAE BEBEYI.
The destiny of a People is determined by the choices they make, as they need to choose well for a better and tranquil society now and for the future. It may take time, but when it is done well, they arrive at their destinations well. All things are ready for greatness if the minds be united for a common purpose.
There is power in unity; unity of purpose, unity of development, and unity for advancement. Alone, one is very limited, but with united hearts, minds, and resources; much can be achieved.
Arguably, OKUN People are people of value, high morals and of educational standards, ranking, and rating in Nigeria, the effects are rife; speaking within and without. As the saying goes; the value of life is not in its duration, but in its donation. No one is important because of how long he lives, but he is important only by his contributions and donations to the community of people. Again, life is not measured by accumulation, rather; life is measured by contributions.
The political classics; of the likes of Senator Smart Adeyemi, Sen. Dino Melaye, His Excellency Yomi Awoniyi, Hon.James Faleke, Hon. Like Abejide, Hon. Yomi Kola Matthew, Hon. Karimi, and many more have sincerely done their bits. However, in the new dispensation of reality, their best needs an upward review.
The new dispensation needs further ethical framework in which a concerted effort is needed or obligated to work and cooperate with other individuals plus organizations for the benefit, promotion, well-being, and having a positive impact on their bottom lines.
Okunland’s Political class, Traditional Rulers, Community, Religious Leaders, Captains of Industries, and Opinion Leaders can never change things by fitting the existing reality. To change some things or political situations, they need to build a new model that makes the existing model obsolete.
The current political gladiators need to sustain our current socio-economic and political development by collaboration, networking, and synergies; thereby harnessing all resources of the land for the glory of the land.
Kogi West in all honesty is tired of Deputy Governorship, Speakership, and others, except for the lofty height of Governorship. The Igala had it for 16 years and Ebiras for 8 years straight. Kogi West just believing?
The sustainable development that we need, which is the pathway to the future; must be embedded in equality, fairness, and justice – a kind of revolution via agriculture, education, infrastructural and health development, et cetera.
This is a framework to generate economic growth, achieve social justice, and exercise environmental stewardship and equality which will strengthen governance.
OKUN people need to change the model to raise people, educate, and manage people to their highest potential within the land and without.
Strength of purpose is possible where there is unity, teamwork, collaboration, and the building of bridges. The people demonstrated this feat in the last elections; Senate to the Yagbas, House of Representatives to Ijumu, House of Assembly to Bunus, and Kotos have the ministerial.
In fairness and for the sake of justice and unequivocal equivalency, the governorship should go to where? Kogi West of course and Kabba – Bunu to be precise. Therefore, Elder Leke, Sen. Smart Adeyemi, Sen. Dino Melaye, Hon. Ashiru, Prince, Banji Jimoh, and Hon. Kola Ologbondiyan should follow the new model; the principle of zoning and the pathway of reasoning in this new dawn of reality.
Basically, for a realistic principle of zoning, equality, fairness, and justice, there should be deliberate decisions of all men; believing in the spirit of oneness, collective sustainable development, and democratic stability; the principle of zoning is not only the alternative but the right thing to be done and picking.
OKUN people must speak with one voice within and without now, as symphonic voice resonates better than discordant correspondences.
