Tribunal is unnecessary and Distractive: Mutfwang.
Governor Caleb Manasseh Mutfwang of Plateau state describe his victory at the Judgement of Governorship Election Tribunal as Victory for not only PDP but the entire people of Plateau state,the Governor was personally in the court during the adoption of written addresses by the Petitioners in the Case of Dr. Nentawe Goshwe Yilwada,All Progressives Congress (APC)Peoples Democratic party (PDP) and the Governor himself. Judgement between The Candidate of New Nigeria Peoples Party NNPP Against the Governor and his Party,Peoples Democratic party PDP.
The Governor expresses his happiness after the court Judgement which upheld his Victory as the Executive Governor of Plateau state.
First we give Glory to God Almighty who is the judge of all men,we knew that this election was clearly won and therefore,we are so happy that the outcome of the Matter and we want to salute the courage of the judiciary that it has gone ahead to affirmed the votes of the people, like the judgement clearly noted, the petition was unnecessary and that’s the beauty of Democracy,the law gives everybody the opportunity to ventilate his feelings at the end of the day.
Mutfwang describes the judgement as Justice prevails and the Celebration is not only for the PDP but the entire people of Plateau state.
According to him,litigations slows the activities of governance,once you have the matter in court,you have to give it attention in which some of your energy is getting away,so these cases are unnecessary distractions and we are glad that we are finally coming to an end for the Governorship petition,we still have one to go in which we have confidence that the rest will be in our favour .
The Governor also talk about the National Assembly election Tribunal that seven of the cases have gone in their favor,the remaining cases,we are confident to be in our favor Mutfwang states they will soon close this chapter and face the business of governance.
The Tribunal earlier reserved Judgement in the Petition of Dr Nentawe Goshwe Yilwada Against the Governor and His Party (PDP) after all parties adopted their written addresses in respect of the petition.
During the proceedings,Counsel to the first respondents. W. O Olajide informed the court that they filled four processes .
He adopts all the legal processes and urged the tribunal to dismiss the petition having been starved to death for lack of evidence that it should be strike out with substantial cost to the respondents.
The Second respondents equally filled five different processes and adopt same and urged the court to dismiss the petition in entirety and affirm the election and return of the second respondents who is Governor Caleb Manasseh Mutfwang as duly elected Governor of Plateau state.
Counsel to the third respondents,Emeka Etiaba SAN filled three processes,said we adopt and rely on them and urge my Lords to strike out the petition in line with our issue one on incompetence.
On her part,the Petitioners through her lead Counsel, Professor Kayode Olatoke (SAN ) filled six processes and adopt same and urged the court to allow the petition especially on issue one and declare that the votes ascribeb to the second respondent as wasted votes and declare the second Petitioner,Dr. Nentawe Goshwe Yilwada as Governor of Plateau state or grant our alternative prayer.
The tribunal reserved Judgement in which parties will be communicated.
The Tribunal also delivered judgement in the petition of Alfred Dabwan,NNPP V. Caleb Manasseh Mutfwang and Peoples Democratic party.
Delivering the judgement, Justice Andrew Yakubu John dismissed the petition with a cost of 500000 naira each to the Respondents.
In over three hours judgement,the Petitioners failed to tender four witnesses they intend to tender.
