Troops of the 8 Division Garrison of the Nigerian Army have neutralised five suspected bandits and recovered weapons, motorcycles, and communication devices during a coordinated operation across Sokoto and Zamfara states.
A military source disclosed that the operation, which began on Wednesday, targeted bandit hideouts in Gangara, Makawana, Satiru, Baici, and Kurkusu villages in Isa Local Government Area of Sokoto State, forcing several criminals to flee as troops secured the communities.
The offensive later extended to Batamna village in Shinkafi Local Government Area of Zamfara State, where troops engaged armed bandits, leading to the neutralisation of five suspects and the recovery of firearms, motorcycles, and Baofeng radios.
The operation followed earlier successes this month in which troops neutralised two notorious bandit leaders, Kachalla Kallamu and Kachalla Na’Allah, in separate operations within Sokoto State.
The Special Adviser to Governor Ahmad Aliyu on Security Matters, retired Colonel Ahmad Usman, and residents of the affected areas have commended the Nigerian Army and other security agencies for sustaining pressure on bandit groups in the region.
