Unknown Gunmen Abduct Passengers Of Two Abuja Bound Buses In Kogi

By Joseph Ajayi – Lokoja

Unknown gunmen have kidnapped passengers of two Abuja-bound buses in the Inele-Eteke Ogugu, New Road area, in the Eastern Senatorial District of Kogi state.

It was gathered that transport buses belonging to GIG and ABC were hijacked in Kogi state by kidnappers while heading to Abuja on Sunday.

According to a source, the hijacked GIG bus left Umuahia at 7:30 am on Saturday on their way to Abuja.

Meanwhile, Kogi State Police Command have confirmed the incident.

The Command Public Relations Officer, SP William Aya, in a statement issued on Monday and made available to newsmen confirmed the abduction of passengers in the state.

Aya added that the DPO, local vigilantes and hunters have been in the bush in an effort to rescue the victims.

“CP has deployed an additional Tactical Squad consist of Quick Response Unit, Police Mobile Force, and Counter-Terrorism Unit, as well as conventional police personnel, to the area to continue with the bush combing and to ensure all victims are rescued unhurt,” he said.
