VC,  Prof. Marietu Tenuche warns against cultism, cybercrimes, other negative vices, as PAAU Matriculates 6,918 Students For 2023/2024 Academic Session

The Prince Abubakar Audu University Ayingba, has matriculated 6,918 students for the next academic session with a call on the new students to shun acts inimical to bringing the good name of the institution known for excellence into disrepute.

Tenuche gave the advice at the occasion of the 25th
Matriculation
Ceremony of the University held at the University Auditorium.

The Vice Chancellor warned students against cyber crimes, cultism, rape, extortion of money from students using class representatives with the deployment of ICT as a medium of communication.

The Vice Chancellor said the University’s
administration has zero tolerance for negative anti social vices, pointing out that 60% of the 70% crimes committed in the institution in recent times is cyber related, warned against indecent
dressing.

She also cautioned against unwholesome celebration upon graduation, the peddling of false reports especially on
social media, among others, as vices that are unacceptable in the University.

Prof. Tenuche urge the students to be vanguards for the elimination of the mentioned vices on campus by reporting
irregular behaviors, serving as whistle blowers to expose ills on campus as well as serving as
volunteers in various Committees set up to root out all acts inimical to the maintenance of
peace and tranquility required for the pursuit of learning, character building and general
development on campus.

The Vice Chancellor informed the matriculating students that all courses of study in this institution have been fully accredited by the National Universities Commission (NUC) and those of professional bodies like the Nursing and Midwifery Council of
Nigeria (NMCN), Council of Nigerian Mining Engineers and Geoscientists (COMEG), Nigerian
Institute of Animal Science (NIAS), Council of Legal Education (Nigerian Law School).

Through efficacious policies and astute management, the University the Vice Chancellor noted has pursued the
provision of a holistically conducive environment for teaching, learning, research as well as
positively engaging extracurricular activities like sports, coupled with provision of security for
life and property leading to the maintenance of unbroken academic calendar.

She called on the students to go about their activities without fear or hindrance as the University she explained will continue to sustain the water tight security in the University.

The University the Vice Chancellor noted has deployed infrastructural facilities to propel students to great heights so
that they can compete globally with their peers.

The facilities in place at the University, the Vice Chancellor mentioned include a wellstocked University main library equipped with books and resources that are adequate
in titles, volume and currency.

Efforts the Vice Chancellor added has also been made with the support of the
Tertiary Education Trust Fund (Tetfund) to provide relevant databases in the library.
