Kogi indigenes living in Kwara State have been told that the State is now more united under Gov. Yahaya Bello, with no segregation and division as was obtained in the past.
The Kogi State Commissioner For Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, and Team leader of the All Progressives Congress entourage that visited the indigenes of the State living in Kwara State, Barr. Ozigi Deedat made the disclosure in Ilorin at the weekend.
The Commissioner’s entourage was made up of Alhaji Usman Ahmed Ododo, the APC Flagbearer for the forthcoming Kogi State Governorship Election scheduled for November 11, 2023.
Others in the entourage to Ilorin include the State APC Chairman, Alhaji Abdullahi Bello and members of the APC State Working Committee. Others are the Chief of Staff, Pharm Muhammad Jamiu Asuku, Commissioners, Rector, Kogi State Polytechnic Lokoja, Prince Bashir Abubakar Audu.
The APC entourage from the State met with the Ohinoyi of Ebira, Onuh Igala, Oba of Okun Community’s along with other indigenes to solicit support for the APC Flagbearer ahead the November governorship election.
Speaking to a cross section of the indigenes, Barr. Ozigi described Gov. Bello’s administration as one that has unified and united the various segments of the State, pointing out that the people under the leadership of Gov. Bello are now more united than ever.
Barr. Ozigi said on assumption of office, Gov. Bello met a State that was polarised along ethnic, religious and political divide, however expressed appreciation that unlike in time past, there is no longer segregation in the State, as the people now see themselves as one and as brothers.
The Leader of the delegation assured that the APC Governorship flagbearer, Alhaji Usman Ahmed Ododo will build on the template laid by Gov. Bello when elected on the existing unity, described him as a lover of the people.
While pointing out that the APC Flagbearer emerged through a primary that was adjudged as peaceful, free and credible to emerge the Party’s candidate, assured that he will build, consolidate and do better than Gov. Bello when elected.
The team leader said the visit to Ilorin to meet with the Indigenes underscores the love Alhaji Usman Ahmed Ododo has for them, said the visit was to also formerly present to them the APC Flagbearer.
Barr. Ozigi assured that with the achievements of Gov Bello in the State, the APC Flagbearer will coast home to victory, called for support for him by the indigenes, expressed optimism that he will do better than Gov Bello having learnt and understudied the Governor’s unprecedented achievements.
The Team leader thanked the indigenes for coming out enmass and in their large numbers to associate with the APC Flagbearer, explained that until the administration of Gov Bello, the State was described as insecure for living and doing business, desclosed that the State is now adjudged as the most peaceful State in the North Central State of the country.
He added that upon assumption of office, Gov. Bello met a state that was sharply divided, with division created by past administration’s for political reasons, said that has however been corrected by Gov. Bello, pointing out that the tension that used to envelope the State in time past has been resolved and corrected through fair distribution of infrastructure, appointment amongst the people of the State.
Barr. Ozigi described the APC Flagbearer as a true representation of the Kogi agenda desired by the founding fathers of the state, urged the indigenes of the State in Kwara not to listen to the misinformation making the rounds about segregation, marginalization, expressed optimism that Alhaji Ododo will consolidate and do better in uniting the various segments of the State when elected.
The team leader who listed the several infrastructure development of the present administration that has been equitably distributed across the State, praised the youth and women inclusion policy of Gov. Bello as one that has remained unprecedented in the history of the State with Alh Ododo set to consolidate on.
The Team leader also mentioned the transformation that has taken place in Kogi State Polytechnic Lokoja and other educational institutions of the State, listed the appointment of a Deputy Governor, Secretary to the State Government and several other appointments of christian extraction as what makes Gov. Bello administration to embrace religious tolerance, assured that the APC Flagbearer will also build on it.
Until the administration of Gov Bello, women, Barr. Ozigi desclosed were marginalized, said under the leadership of Gov Bello, all Vice Chairperson of the 21 LGA Councils, Council Leaders, with three women as Councilors in the local government areas of the State as women as a feat made possible by Gov Bello that would be consolidated upon by Alh Ododo.
Never in the history of the State, Barr. Ozigi desclosed, have youths been engaged in government and administration as is presently obtained in the State, revealed that the fairness, equity and just distribution of appointment, infrastructure, amenities and appointment remains the hallmark of the Gov. Bello’s administration that the APC Flagbearer will build on.
The Team leader thanked the indigenes for the massive turnout and show of love shown to the APC Flagbearer, urged the people not to be swayed by the misinformation making the rounds, said the State is not divided, with no segregation, promised that Alhaji Ododo would consolidate and do better than Gov Bello when elected.
Various speakers at the visit who include; Hon. Kingsley Fanwo, Commissioner For Information and Communication, Hon Bashiru Gegu, Solid Minerals and Natural Resources, the Rector, Kogi State Polytechnic Lokoja, Dr. Usman Salisu Ogbo, the State All Progressives Congress Chairman, Abdullahi Bello, and Prince Bashir Abubakar Audu, son of the State former Governor, Prince Abubakar Audu, all shared their experiences of the administration of Gov Bello, described the present administration as one that places and emphasises unity, togetherness and development, largely spreed across the State.
Hon Kingsley Fanwo while speaking described the APC Flagbearer as humble, a goal getter, says he understand the various segments and needs of the people. The Commissioner praised Gov Bello for locating a Rice Mill, University in Kabba, projects he described as record broken in the history of the State.
The Information Commissioner also listed projects like the Kabba township roads, street lights, specialist and reference hospitals, GYB Model Science Secondary Schools and many others that are equitably distributed across the State as a measure of Gov. Bello’s achievements, with the promise that Alh Ododo will do more.
Hon. Fanwo added that Gov. Bello has performed well, but assured that the APC Flagbearer will perform better, pleaded with the people to support him in ensuring consolidation, thanked them for the massive turnout.
Speaking also, Engr Bashiru Gegu said electing Ododo will enable consolidation, described Gov. Bello as a man of equity, said he has laid the solid foundation for the APC Flagbearer to win, with Alhaji Ododo assured of doing more when elected.
Also speaking, Dr. Salisu Usman Ogbo said under his Leadership as Rector of the Kogi State Polytechnic, 300 people were employed out of the 800 employed from Kogi West, described unity as key to development, with Alhaji Usman Ahmed Ododo as a symbol of Kogi agenda and unity.
In his remarks, Prince Bashir Abubakar Audu, solicited the support of the indigenes of the State in Kwara State, said a support for Gov. Bello and the APC, would ensure that their labour of love is not in vain as envisaged by the late Prince Abubakar Audu.
The Kogi State APC Chairman, Alhaji Abdullahi Bello while presenting the Flagbearer to the people, described Alhaji Ododo as a philanthropist, a viable and marketable product as well as a promise keeper, said it was the measure of confidence reposed on him that made him emerge victorious in the Party’s Governorship primary.
The APC Chairman said the State under Gov. Bello has offered opportunity to the people irrespective of tribe, religion and party affiliation, assured that Alhaji Ododo will build on the achievements of Gov. Bello, said he is overwhelmed by the show of love by the Kogi indigenes living in Kwara State.
The APC Governorship Flagbearer, Alhaji Usman Ahmed Ododo, while addressing the people, described his mandate as one for unity, development, with the desire to serve humanity. He said his mandate is all about sustained and consolidated development across the State.
The APC Flagbearer sought the support of the indigenes in their prayers, urged them to collect their PVCs, vote wisely in the forthcoming November Governorship Election, assured of expansion in the engagement of more youths and women in Governance.
The APC Flagbearer promised to lobby and work assiduously for the rehabilitation of the Ilorin Kabba road, payment of bursery to students, provision of electricity to the people, said his mandate is for sustained governance, thanked the indigenes for the massive reception accorded him.
